I bought this ceiling fan light combo to update my living room existing fan light fixture. It is connected to light switches on both sides of the room, Since I was replacing an existing combo I connected exactly as the previous unit but can get no response from the fan or light, is there a way to tell if the problem is in my new product? I really don't want to to pay an electriction another 100 dollars only to find out the fan is no good.
Your best bet would be to take the fan back to the store buy a new one and try again if the problem is the same its the way you are connecting the wires sometimes you need to add 3 wire to black (hot) to get the light and the fan to work.

Depending on where it's loose it would be tightened with the nut on the shaft/pipe going into the bottom of the fan or, tightening the screws which fasten the housing to the light fixture is -- these will be in the side of the lower cup which connects to the fan housing.
Skill, patience, preseverance, and experience. You ned to cut and strip the wires so they "just fit" into the space provided leading to the connectyion screws. no room for stuffing , and no extra wiggle room for and bends or kinks .. You mightb try mounting the wires and then pushing the extra wire back up intio the ceiling junction box, thats what I do.

The wiring, concealed under the ceiling trim needs to be corrected; there will be at least three leads, one for the fan motor, another for the lights and a 3rd wire that is the neutral for both.
There should be an additional (4th) lead that is connected to the body of the fixture that will be green or green and yellow; this one is for safety and carries no current unless a fault in the lamp wiring or the motor occurs.
I believe that Hampton is a Home Depot brand name but don't depend on them for help.
