Question about Maytag Neptune MAH5500B Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Machine stops on it own

Model: MAH4000AWW front load. Washing machine, stops on its own. Took machine apart and cleaned and lubed, drum bearing and motor bears. Re-assembled and drum turns smoothly and easily. Jumpered the door switch and watched it run (no water connected) and drum turns with very jerky motion. Motor or control board is bad, but how do you determine which? Remember, the drum turns very easily with no rough spots. Internal inspection of the motor showed no signs of problems. However, motor encoder signal output was not checked.

R11 Reads 15K and does not look burnt. Q6 Gate, Drain, and Source are all shorted together. Replaced Q6, and the problem still exists. Will Q6 take out Q5 when it fails?

I tried replacing all the MOSFETs (6) and the MOSFET Drivers(3) and it still did not run. I purchased the motor / control board upgrade and I am back in business. I was able to buy the kit off of e-bay for 115.00 instead of the 225.00 that they want locally.

Take the board out and flip it over and check the r11 resistor. It is usually burned out.

I have tried to just replace resistors on the board but have never had luck doing it. Maytag wont help you either. they make you buy the whole board. Thats the only way i have been able to fix them. Tried the other and never works for me. Try getting the tech sheet out of the inside wall of the wsher. i dont remember if there is a wiring diagram in the tech sheet.

My Maytag Neptune MAH4000AWW sounds like a train during the spin cycle. Are the bearings replacable

It is so common that the washing machine can make terrible noise in many ways and is a common fault. In all occasions it is important that your observation is most important and so is vital to the identification /rectification and solution. If you have noticed that machine is vibrating when it is running then the motor /drum suspension has to be inspected. Since these fittings are located on the underside of the machine it is important that you look for the noise with a good inspection lamp. Manually turn the motor and drum and listen for the noise, if so the motor bearings, the drum agitator shaft and fittings must be checked. Also the suspensions which include the shock absorbers and springs, the body clamps must be checked to be in correct alignment and not changed in position. Tightening of the mounting is also very important. Finally in most cases a drop of OIL or smear of grease on the moving parts cane solve most issues.

Machine rumbles when spinning - Bearings?

You did not mention the make or model of the washing machine. Most likely if it is very noisy when in the spin cycle, it usually is the bearings that need to be replaced. It may not be cost effective to replace if you have a front loading machine, since some machines need the entire machine to be taken apart and the rear drum replaced. Get some estimates before considering having the work done on your machine.

Our front loading Kenmore MODEL 41742042100.has begun sounding like a jet enjine when it is spinning, someone told me that it is probably bad bearings, is it worth having this 7yr old machine repaired or...

Hi.

I

f you get a very loud noise coming from the machine, and this noise islouder when it spins faster, then it is often because of a problem with the drum bearing.

The drum bearing is bad, probably drum bearing spider had broken.

On a front load the drum bearing is located at the back of the drum.

To replace the part you take apart machine, undo the belt and depending on the model you may need to remove more parts.

You can find parts and diagrams for most models here.

Sounds like a Harley when it spins, still spins though.

Neptune washer

Why?Do you understand that the bearings are locked into the outer tub and you have to replace that, the outer tub.Very expensive repair that will most likely be almost half the price you had paid for the machine new.My advise is DONT FIX this if you have a bearing problem ,because I honestly believe in letting the customer know the truth.Sorry, but a 15 year old re- conditioned Maytag will out last any Neptune ever made.

Clanking noise during spin cycle

I was told by 3 technicians that my washer had shot bearings and this is a common problem for the Kenmore Elite Front loader.

Sears knows it and will not do anything about it except try to sell you a new washer since it costs $800 to replace the unit with the bearings.
