Lost ac/dc adapter for a 320 GB Simpletech External Hard Drive

We lost our adapter for our 320 GB Simpletech External Hard Drive and have been having a difficult time finding a replacement. I read online that it was an Accurian adapter and had a 6.3 V outage. It was purchased at Best Buy, and they told us to search online for an adapter. Does anyone have any advice on where to find one, or of a universal adapter that would work?

We haven't stored anything on it yet, so we're not at risk of losing stuff, but would like to avoid buying a brand new one if we can! Thanks...

I have this same problem... Has anyone had any luck finding an adapter that will fit the small adapter and power it correctly?? I've been using a double USB and have been able to use it and retrieve and write data to it, but it is running at USB 1.1 so it takes forever and a day to write a 200MB file to the drive. I e-mailed SimpleTech's CSD today to see what the part number was and the price and I will post as soon as I hear back from them, but I'm sure it'll probably be just as cheap to go purchase a new drive and use the new DC on both drives, or at least that's the way it is when you lose a peripheral to most comp accessories, but usually you can find generic adapters for things such as this drive at Radio Shack, but I didn't know if anyone had been there and done that yet?? Let me know if you have.. I'll post the phone number, part no. and price for the factory replacement when I hear back from SimpleTech.. Good luck to all and hopefully we can find an affordable solution to this problem... Thanks!!!

Crack open the case and pull out the hdd its just a sata drive with a sata to usb adapter. if your motherboard supports sata drives just plug it in and retrieve the data.

I also lost my power cord, and did not try to access the data on that backup drive, for several years, until tonight (in in Jan. of 2012! ) I read the posts on this thread, and rummaged throug the old, old saved menagerie of orphan cords I have in a box, found an old scanner cord that fit the jack, and was 12V, but was only 1.25A. So, hoping that althoug it might be under-powered, still, it ought not to blow up the drive :) It works fine. Just sayin.

I have a simpletech 120 GB external USB hard drive with NO power supply. Do you know what the power rating is (ac or dc, how many volts, amperage...) or where I can get a new power supply for it? -Thanks

12VDC, 1.5A external power adapter Well that is what this page says, it's not your 120GB drive but unsure if it's no the same model maybe. However all external HDD that need a power supply should be needing 12 volts, as they are just internal drives mounted in a shell and some simple circuitry to power and connect it.

Hi,

You usually get this cable from nearest Bestbuy, Staples or Walmart store.
You can take the SimpleTech SimpleDrive to the store and ask for the adapter and they should be able to supply it.

This way you wont have trouble of getting you wrong part shipped as well.
