I have exactly the same fault with my tv. Mute buttons working and channels, but no power buttons working etc.
Do i need a new remote? Or tv at fault?

I had exactly the same problem, and the solution also worked for me. Note that the Samsung web site has another one or two variations around this listed - worth a look if this doesn't work.
    Thanks UK Techie

I bought an elderly friend the flipper big button remote. She has lost the original. I've been round and round in circles. I can teach it to work the volume and on/off control but it will not change channel. The code supplied did the same. Any ideas.

I had the same problem.  The problem is strange and seems to be with the receiver in the TV and not the remote control.  The reason I say this is that when this first happened my Samsung brand DVD could actually control the TV.  This then also failed, but still works fine with the DVD player.
Anyway there is an even more bizarre fix to all this......
- Remove the batteries from your TV remote. - Press and hold the red (ON/OFF) button for at least 1 min. - Replace the batteries and hey presto!!
I know seems far fetched but I found it on the Samsung website and it does work.

Thanks for that, a bit too late though now! I purchased a new remote from AVUK which cost me just less than £13.00 this did the trick but, i've just tried your holding the red button trick and seems to have fixed the original one! Never mind, i've now got a spare.
Thanks anyway.

I have a 32" insignia LCD TV. My remote stop

You can reset your remote control by removing the batteries, pressing all of its buttons, and installing new batteries. Also, ensure that your TV's sensor is clean and unobstructed. If the problem persists, try using a universal remote control as a troubleshooting step. This will help identify whether the original remote or the TV is at fault.

Turn tv on manually.Test the remote control all functions are dead or some functions work other don't?Tries take the remote control parts and clean the inner rubbers buttons between the rubbers insulater and the remote circuitries board and the battery connections + - connections with some rubbing alchahol. Then wait awhile like 20 mins and putting it back together again and putting in new battery in the remote,it might work again. If getting the same result than the remote CPU chip is probally dead, remote control devices are very depended on it CPU chip.Try website like to buy an original remote for the replacement.

Samsung TV remote. I noticed today my TV remote wasn't working. I changed the batteries and noticed there had been some leakage from the AAA batteries. Since changing the batteries the 8 buttons on the top...

Giving you some hints. Battery leakage is one enemy of tv control and other remote control. They can corrode your battery spring contact, give contact bridges with neighboring tracks that can cause erratic behavior of your remote.

Some repairs can be done but doesn't guarantee success. First is try to clean the corrosion on battery contact = no power usually. Erratic behavior cause by contact bridging = battery leak residues.

Opening a remote control. Some have screws on its small foot. Covered by a rubber or sticker. Some are notch clip in strategic location you have to fry that one by one, opening first on its weakest side. In some don't want to be open.

Cleaning the board by a soft eraser is one way. After you open the remote. Commonly the button area where contact takes place.

If the first procedure and cleaning doesn't work. Buy new remote or use universal remote controller.

I have a samsung LCD 32 inch and have remote problems, I can change channels ok however when I try access the TV guide the remote fails to load the page. The TV option on the remote lights up as if its not...

Hi anthonymagee,

I have had similar problems in the past, the remote was faulty (a common problem). If you have recently bought the TV phone Samsung for a free replacement i.e. (08707267864 in the UK).

Alternatively (worth a try)
1. Remove the batteries from the remote.
2. Press and hold the remote's power button for 30 seconds, then release.
3. Insert the batteries.

Hope it helps, Dale.
