I can't get the release collar to release the bit from the drill.

probably need to put the bit in a vice and pull the release collar right back and use a hammer to hit the bit holder to move it
I suspect that you have used the wrong bit for the drill
there are at least 2 differences on the market and some generic bits cause this problem

My Dewalt DC925 works well but the torque settings don't seem to be working.when i am drilling screws the drill will just drill until i release the trigger.is this a clutch problem?. Many thanks.

Try to put it on the lowest torque and if it slips when wanted, then add a little more torque and check to make sure it slips. Continue at each torque setting and usually works again at full torque. Usually happens when left on the same torque all the time. This kind of resets it.

Can't engage drill or hammer settings on de walt dc 925 xrp

Try turning the ring to 2 or 3 and run the drill holding the chuck so the clutch slips then try turning it to drill setting. Also try to do it in different speed settings. If not it sounds like a fault in the gear module. It might just be a metal clip just under the clip in side. Undo the 4 screws holding the gearbox onto the housing and carefully remove it, you might see the fault or loads of dirt that needs cleaning. How to charge my channellock 4v drill. Can't find the instructions book

Traditionally the charge port is on the heel of the tool, it will be no larger than a screw head. It will have a small post terminal in the middle of it. If it does not have such a port, look for a soft polymeric button, it should flip out. If not, see if the battery can be released, the grayish buttons on the bottom of the handle may be what you need to press to release the battery for charging.

I'm answering without knowing which model you have but, there are some Dewalt drills that will go into hammer and/or drill mode only if the speed selector is in 2nd gear. The torque settings are accessable only in driver mode. Short of that you may have broken parts in the transmission that can only be repaired by replacing the transmission.

Need to replace 14.4 powe drill

I recommend replacing your drill and light with an 18V Ryobi "One+" Drill and light from from the home depot. It outperforms any battery powered drill I have ever used. You can also get it with lithium batteries that will last twice as long.

Ds14dmr cannot get the chuck screw to release I am aware it is left handed thread

If the chuck is too tight to get the bit out you can either put a glove on one hand grab the chuck and run the drill in the reverse direction or if that will not work use vise grips or a small pipe wrench on the chuck to loosen it but be sure to tape the pipe wrench or vise grips with a thin piece of duct tape so you don't gouge the drill chuck.
