My humidifier isnt working properly, it is not using any water

I have the sesame street humidifier that I just purchased and im having a problem with it. I got it out of town so im unable to return it to the store I bought it from so im kind of stuck. It runs, you can hear the moter running and it blows the air, the problem im having is no water is being put out with the air. Ive let it run for 2 different nights and the water level never changes. Ive checked to make sure the top is sitting in the bottom tight and changed to a different filter and still nothing. Is there somthing else I can try?

HCM Model 890...Mine actually built up a nice group of molds. Little black molds all over the inside of the water tank. When I took out the filter it too had a large black mold the size of a police badge on the inside. When I tried to pick it up. It fell apart. I didn't get a chance to dry it out. It had to be cleaned and didn't want to be cleaned.

I am returning mine ASAP. This is not a very child-friendly product (despite the pretty Sesame Street logo). I had it set up in my baby's room and noticed an odour after a couple of weeks of operation. When I disassembled the unit, I noticed mold in the base (near motor/fan). There is obviously a major flaw in the design and my intent is to get tis product off of the shelf. I suggest to everyone to use cool most humidifiers wher you can see all of the fan/motor components and you will be able to spot mold issues easily.

You need an Ohm Meter to check if your motor will take power. I just took mine apart after letting it dry out "Over-Night" (which = 4 days!). Then I placed a hairdryer (warm setting) on the humidifier vent. for about 45 minutes. You know what happened? Nothing! So I need a new motor that\'s all. Everything else is solid state (switches/lites); so it CAN get wet. But not the motor. You would dink Zey would invent an electric motor that can get a "Little" wet...Darling!

I have the same product, but am missing the removable tray. Do any of you still have it and want to give it to me? I have spent so much money over the years on humidifiers and I just want one to last me. I called the company and they do not have any!

Make sure you soak the wic with COLD water and don't ring it out. Make sure when your putting the tank back in that you don't spill any water into the fan vent. If you get even a splash into the vent, it makes that awful loud motor noise. If this happens just let it dry out on it's own(over night). Also try cleaning the wic tray. It tends to get slimmy from the water sitting in it. If you ever see that your tank is empty, wet your wic when you refill it. Make sure you rinse and wet the wic EVERYTIME you refill the tank. The wic dries out fast and can start smelling pretty bad if you don't rine it regularly.

My new 45.4 liter humidifier will only run on high speed and is far too noisy, any solutions besides returning?

Return it, somethings wrong with the controls.
OR your house is humid enough, and you are trying to create rain in it, and the controls are working correctly and you are trying to make them do something they don't want to do! If you have a humity scale in your house, check it- you might be surprised at the level you're at already...If you don't have one, get one- they're cheap and plentiful at any hardare store- I have one in my greenhouse that's digital, reads current RH/temperature & highest/lowest RH/temperature in the last 24 hours- cost me $13 at Home Depot.

How do I clean this humidifer? I have the sesame street elmo and friends cool mist humidifier and I cannot find the manual for cleaning instructions. thank you

The outside you can clean with warm soapy water. The inside can be flushed with a 50/50 solution of White Vinegar and Bottled Distilled Water. Fill the tank and run the unit until the tank is almost empty. Pour out the remaining solution and fill the tank with more of the Bottled Distilled Water. Operate the unit for 30 minutes and the previous solution should have been flushed out by then. I would recommend using Bottled Distilled Water all the time rather than tap water. As tap water has a lot of minerals in it that can cause calcium scale and clog the unit.

Hope this helped you.

The date - February 23, 2010 - 6 days ago, I purchased a Sunbeam Humidifier from my local Walmart - Lake Geneva, WI. I really thought I had made a wise purchase - very quite, and was raising the humidity...

Im not going to recomend a humidifier because I need one myself and have not went shopping yet.

I would like to opinionate an explination on the white haze.

The humidifier is putting moisture in the air -water is much much heavier than the air - water is much much heavier than dust particles also.

therefore my theory is that the moisture is combining with the dust or whatever is already in the air and then eventually settling. perhaps if this is correct you may want to do some checking around in your home or furnace ducking or even furnace filter. The dust could even be coming from a little pin hole in your clothes dryer exhaust hose.

The humidifier leaves a lot of water on floor , is that normal/

Hi. It looks like more people is complaining about this. It shouldn't happened but I'm think that this is just a big cons of this unit. Return to the shop and buy another one basing on people reviews or use this unit and some rugs

Carrier SBP Humidifier is not working

I would suggest turning up the humidistat (usually located on the the return air duct to a higher setting and listening for a "click" noise on the supply valve. If you do hear a click but dont see / hear any water than the culprit is likely the valve itself.
