This is not the dispenser area. It is the very bottom grill on the fridge. Do I still disassemble the ice dispenser?? Why would I have to dissemble the door to get the bottom grill off?

The grill is pressed into clips that secure it in place. Just firmly pull the grill off the clips to remove. Be sure to not use anything metal to clean behind the grill.

Hello yankeetee,

On the bottom of the fridge is where the base grill is located, gently pull out one side and then the other. To put it back on, line it up on both side of the fridge and push it in gently, should pop back on.

Here is a link to the actual manual. http://www.estateappliances.com/data/2311958.pdf

Let me know how it works out for you.

ps be gentle when removing the base grille as they have plastic clips that snap off very easily.

You will need to unplug the fridge or unplug the wires going to the dispenser from behind the grill at the bottom of the fridge.Pop off the front cover over the switches and pop off the soft button cover that you mash to activate the dispenser.
You will see the screws that hold the dispenser assembely to the housing. remove them and the unit will slide toward you.

The bottom assembly has tabs on each side that disengage easily, then remove the base clean thoroughly and replace. Hope this helps. Good Luck

The ice cube indicator is blinking

From the manual:

The Control Center monitors refrigerator and

freezer temperatures as well as the ice maker

system. If there is a temperature or ice maker

problem, you'll be alerted by a flashing

SERVICE indicator light. This same SERVICE

light will also flash if the condenser needs

cleaning. Before calling for service, please

check and see if your condenser area needs

cleaning. Refer to Condenser Cleaning,
page 22.

CONDENSER CLEANING

In all Built-In models, the condenser is located

behind the grille. First, remove the grille. Then

using a soft bristle brush, vacuum to remove

dust and lint from the condenser. NOTE: To

avoid bending the condenser fins, be sure to

vacuum in the direction of the fins (up and

down). Clean the condenser area every three

to six months.

CAUTION

Before cleaning the unit, shut the electricity

off at the control panel. When you

clean the condenser, wear gloves to avoid

injury from the sharp condenser fins.

Failure to clean the condenser could

result in temperature loss or mechanical

Where is the filter for the ice maker on whirlpool refer model number ED2CHOXK005

Removing and replacing a water filter - base grill location

Filters situated in the base grill (below the freezer compartment) of Whirlpool-built side-by-side refrigerators are relatively simple to replace. Follow these two steps:
  1. Grasp the filter's end and make a one-quarter turn to the left.
  2. Pull the filter straight out.
To replace with a new filter, repeat these two steps in the opposite order, making sure to first remove the red cap from the filter. Proceed by pushing the filter straight into the slot, and then giving it a one quarter turn to the right.
Note: Replacing this type of filter is quick - there is no need to unplug your refrigerator when replacing it. Also, this filter should be replaced every six months.

I have a ED2FHEXN Whirpool Refrigerator. Where is

Your fridge was made with 2 different types. it will be either one or the other.

the first one could be:WF-NL240 part number :#4396508 use replacement NL240
should run about $32.99

the second one could be:WF-L400 part number:#4396508 use replacement L400
this as well should run about $32.99

I would highly recommend that you contact whirlpool to find out which filter you will need since they used 2 different ones on your model.

You can reach them by phone or e-mail.
phone:1-800-253-1301
e-mail:www.whirlpool.com

I hope this helps you. IF you need further assistance please feel free to contact us at any time.

Removed ice maker drawer and replaced it, but now

The bar is down?! ;) There is no feeler arm on the "ice in the door" fridges... Check if the switch on the right from the icemaker is in "on" position. If it is:
  1. Remove ice bucket from the door, and re-seat it. If it sits high - you'll have no ice. If this did not help:
  2. remove grille on the bottom of your fridge, and find the testing procedures sheet for the icemaker tucked inside that grille.

Whirlpool gold moder GC5SHEXN503 side by side-ice maker not producing ice anymore--water dispenser works fine--laser lites seem ok---no ice jam--no water filling ice molds

Put some water in the ice maker and see if it will kick a batch out. If it does make a batch but does not make any more then replace the water valve. NOTE: the water valve is a dual purpose valve that supplys water in the door and supplys the ice maker. If the ice maker does not kick out a batch then something is wrong with the ice maker. One easy component to replace is the ice mold thermostat.

GE SIDE BY SIDE/MODEL #GSS25JMDCC

I also had a loud fan and it was caused by ice build-up on the fan in the back of the freezer. From inside the freezer, I removed the plastic grill that covers the fan (I think I also had to remove the side rails and ice maker) then just let the fan defrost in the sink. Made sure it was nice and dry before putting it back in or else ice would just form again. I also took a sheet of plastic and put it between the ice maker and fan grill to stop water from dripping onto the fan and haven't had a noisy fan since. I just need to remove the ice build-up from on top of the plastic sheet every now and then, but that's much easy than taking everything apart to get to the fan.

ICE MAKER SUB ZERO REFIGERATOR

Check water turned on. check ice button switch turned on in fridge. remove juice storage, ice container in freezer, check ice bucket full white plastic flapper to make sure not stuck on a white peg at top. flapper must hang down and be freely movable to signal ice maker to keep busy. If up high will turn off ice maker. Lots of other parts especially heater circuits involved also: fill tube supply heater not working then frozen supply line then no ice. Look for wiring diagram in ziplock behind compressor grille. can order parts at repairclinic.com. logical design, layout, easy to get to sensors, heaters. makes sense if look at it long enough.

Making lot of ice

I'm going to guess that there is something jammed into the ice maker making it misbehave. Power it down and have a look. Most units remove for cleaning.
