If the console is moved while in game play the game can become burnt. If this happens then game will become unreadable.

My Xbox 360 keeps scratching my game discs?

Sounds like the xbox console needs the laser adjusted or secured as per the other comments. For any discs issues, read on.

Check to see if there are any scratches or laser burn marks on the discs.Scratches or marks on discs will render game discs unplayable or will freeze the game and will often show a message stating "Disc Read Error" or something to that effect. Best remedy for starters, is to clean the discs and make sure there are no scratches or marks left on the play-side of the discs. A common problem that XBOX owners are reporting is; if the console is moved during play, a whirring noise is heard and then when the disc is removed, very visible laser burn rings are found on the disc.

Laser burn, looks like complete or partial circular scratches around your disc. This occurs to discs when the games console has been moved whilst playing. Discs are then impaired by a ring of laser burn, which is a circular scratch into the disc. Some home remedies may help with very light scratches on some discs but a professional disc repair service is normally required to fix laser burn scratches or damage to XBOX discs.

If this laser burn scenario is consistently happening to your game discs especially if the console has not been moved or bumped against while the disc is in play, the games console itself may require repair. You should contact Microsoft for assessment and guidelines.

Hope this Helps!!

Cannot play fifa 10, disc is clean and doesn't look scratched, all other games are playing. console says to restart which has been done a few times

There may be no actual standard scratches visible on your disc but a common problem that Xbox owners are reporting is, if the console is moved during play, a whirring noise is heard and then when the disc is removed, very visible laser burn rings are found on the disc.

TOOTHPASTE DOSNT WORK!!! WUT WILL

Hello.

Xbox DVD-Drive's often scratch circles into your discs and some even got malfunctioning lasers that will burn rings into games.
To prevent the circular scratched from happening avoid moving your console at any time while it is running however it often also occurs just in regular use especially for older consoles with Hitachi or Samsung drives.
As far as I know Microsoft replaces discs that were clearly damaged by a console free of charge, at least here in Europe they do.
Try calling Xbox Customer Support and ask for a replacement it is worth a try for sure even if they shouldnt replace it they will at least give you a 1-month subscription for Xbox LIVE in exchange.

I hope this helps and Good luck!

Kind regards,
