Background. I have a few older laptops with USB 1.1 built in and I wanted the faster speed of USB 2.
This was my 3rd PCCARD USB adapter, the prior 2 did not work either. Again, the PCCARD USB adapter did not work in 3 different laptops. I could not even read a flash memory stick. grrr
Turned out the problem was the laptops were not able to supply enough power to the card. When I plugged in a 5v wall wart into the card...it worked...I could read the flash memory stick. So, it appears that some of the older laptops just can't supply enough juice to the card.
This seems odd as on one of the laptops, I use an external CD drive with an attached PCCARD adapter, and it gets its power from the PCCARD.
Your problem is a power overload on the USB 2.0 card. If you plug in a 5volt power supply to the USB 2.0 PCM/CIA card, it will solve your problem. You can also use any USB port on your computer to plug in an A-A USB cable to power the PCM/CIA card and it should resolve the lockup. Also, check and make sure you have enough RAM memory in your comptuer for Windows XP. Recommend 512, but runs much better on 1024 (1 gig) of RAM.
install the vendor specifig driver for the PCMCIA. because windows XP sp2 is also able to detect the device and when you push the device online it is detecting and there is some other device which has got same IRQ and that is conflict with this and stop.
