Question about Panasonic DVD & Blu-Ray Players

7 Answers

A message, SET 1, appeared on the unit display. Instructions were to reset the code to turn the TV on/off and adjust the volume. This step was done and the TV on/off and volume worked properly. New batteries were inserted in the remote. The the time of day returns on the display after a short delay. If I press DVD/VHS POWER on the remote, "SET 1" message returns on the unit display and the unit cannot be normally turned on or operated with the remote control. If VCR channels somehow return to display on the unit I change channels up or down manually on the main unit, but any effort to use the remote causes "SET 1" to appear and there is no display on the TV. Instructions advise to reset the code between the unit and the remote, but I cannot display any of the functions to do so. Thank you, Wilbert C. Fletke

Try this hold the "1" button and "Enter" for 20 seconds .
If this doesnot help hold the "2" button while holding down the "Enter" button.
It should work .
It will come down to whichever "set" number is being displayed being used in conjunction with the "Enter" button to reset the remote.

While going through the setup procedure the Set 3 was accidentally changed to Set 1. Any activation of the Control setting only makes the unit go to "Set 1" It appears to be locked up at that...

You can try resetting the remote itself (this is necessary whenever the batteries are replaced). Remove the batteries, as if to replace them, press any key on remote (to clear its buffer) then reinsert them. Next step, since your unit is 'Set 1' (or remote command mode 1 - DVD1/RC1) - you could (on the remote) press 1 and OK/ENTER together - hold them for 10 seconds, then release.

This should restore the remote to the unit. If it doesn't, a workshop service may be required to reset the unit internally, but at a cost. Try the remote battery reset first (even try using new batteries).

When I turn on my Home Theater Sony Model hcd-hdx576wf this message appears, "protector, push power". what I can do?

Follow the steps below to troubleshoot if the word PROTECT or PROTECTOR is flashing on the A/V receivers display.
1. Check the speaker wires and speakers for proper connections.
2. Reduce the volume level. IMPORTANT: If the receiver is played back at maximum volume level it may enter the protect mode. Maximum volume listening will cause the receiver to run very hot and may drain the output capacitors.
3. Disable the surround sound option if both the A and B speakers are being used simultaneously.
4. Ensure the top of the receiver has proper ventilation to keep it from overheating.
5. If the message only occurs when using a DVD player, the sampling frequency may be set too high. IMPORTANT: Some receivers provide compatibility with the higher sampling frequencies through alternate connections. Consult the owners manual for specific information.
6. Unplug the AC power cord for about 1 to 2 hours to reset the output transformers.

Dvd recorder remote control

Anytime your unit displays RC1, 2, or 3 - the remote code needs to be reset. Other messages are "chk remote n" or "set n", n being the number 1, 2 or 3. These remote codes are set in case you have multiple products that interact w/ the remote - so when operating one device the other doesn't interfere. Unfortunately, every now and then for completely unknown reasons, they can slip out of the proper code. All you have to do (if your remote is, in fact, functional) is press and hold the number on the remote that corresponds with that which displays on the unit - in your case the number 3, and hold the Enter key at the same time for about 5 to 10 seconds. This should resume operation shortly thereafter. However, you will not see any confirmation on the display as you are performing this reset. It is trial and error.
