Question about ASUS Eee 4G Notebook

Open Question

No screen at boot

When booting my girlfriends EEE PC 4G the screen is completely white.. It flickers a few time and after soms minutes (it varies) the Xandros desktop shows up.

Anyone seen this problem before and know a solution? I was thinking about a broken videocard or something like that.

Bootmgr is missing

when you were uploading your OS and if an HDD or USB was connected or you have a complete system restore lying around somewhere, You're boot mngr is in there . Did you do a clean install? If so than your OEM and Boot options is in an EFI partition hidden on an internal HD and is Linux based. If you go to your MMC console and hit Disc Manager, you'll see something like 100 mb EFI , with no Disk letter assigned and also a MRP, Which is a Microsoft reserved partition.. Kookie stuff goin' on in that ASUS place.

My ASUS eeepc 4g is not turning on and the third light on the bottom, which looks like a cylinder, is flashing. Also it would not accept my password when i tried to type it in. It does not start to load up...

firstly--shut down properly--if you cant then hold power button down for 5 secs or so.
then reinstall OS (F9)(every other boot ,,choose option the press "E" then press "B"
Then complete initialising pages etc,it might be an idea also to disable the password option by pressing F2 (bios) and de-selecting it(again every other boot)

How to recover linux for EEE PC 4G

Simple, You need to get a USB - DVD Dongle, & your backup DVD that came with your unit. Inset the DVD, and boot of it, you need to access the BIOS and set the drive boot Up options, to boot from external USB connected, DVD, it MUST be all plugged in to show this. Then save settings and reboot. Follow instructions & then it will simply perform a complete restore. Now if you can't or don't want to use a USB-DVD, then you will have to make a Bootable USB Key, transfer the contents of the DVD to it and set to boot from that and do so, and install that way. There are a number of tutorial showing you how to do this.

A virus has taken over my computer and wont allow me to do anything so i need to do a complete reboot

check if your computer can still boot to safe mode(by pressing f8 during startup and select safe mode from advanced boot options). if it can boot to safe mode, run system restore. if it doesnt boot, you will need to run a full factory image restore or a manual operating system reinstallation. hope it'll help.

How to reformat asus eee pc

Normally laptops come with a restore disk(s). Simply put the disk in the drive, restart the pc and boot the pc to the disk.

If it won't say (boot to disk) automatically, simply press F2 when you turn on the computer till the BIOS loads up. Then change the boot order to CD drive first.

Once it boots to the cd the process will run automatically.

If this solution has helped you, please take the time to rate me.

My eee pc 4G surf won't turn on. It started having problems when the power cord was bumped - causing it to immediately shut down. Then it just stopped booting all together. I replaced the power cord and...

Most likely, either the power jack inside the machine (jack itself or solder joints) or the plug on the power cord was damaged; obviously the plug is only a few dollars to replace, the jack also only a few dollars, but much more labor intensive. My experience tells me it's probably the power jack. If you have any way to externally charge your battery and, using it, find the machine operational, that pins it down pretty well. When the external supply is used, the internal battery is supposed to be switched out of the load circuit and into charging mode.

The initial screen freezes; start up stops completely.

Hi,
Take out the battery and the mains power, turn the laptop over and remove the ram cover, look for the ram and take it out by pushing the metal lugs outwards so the memory pops up, it's now ready to remove, the ram (memory) looks like this >>>>>>
2906af6.jpg

Once the memory is out look very close in the memory bay for 2 brass triangles, they will be in the shape of a diamond, get a flat head screwdriver and short them 2 pins out, this will clear the CMOS, put the memory back in, turn the laptop over and plug in power & hit the on/off button.
When it comes it will say that bios settings are wrong so go into the bios and set the time and date, save the changes and exit the bios, the computer will restart and hopefully boot up with no more problems.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.
