Question about Pioneer SD-P50A5-K 50" Rear Projection Television

Faint statc and green lines on screen

The screen is very faint and has some horizonal lines that are green in color. You cannot see any of the functions, such as volume or channel number on the screen as well. You try and push the buttons on the panel below the screen or on the remote and nothing seems to happen. I don't want to spend too much money to fix it, but if it's a simple solution I'll try it. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Sony 60" HDTV Plasma WEGA....Picture Problem

My guess is that you're not missing the color it just appears muted... That problem is a common one in both the 50 and 60 inch models. And if you change video mode with nothing hooked up you'll see a faint color where none should be...
That's simply dust in the optical block on one of either the red, blue or green lcd panel. Wipe it down with a non-linting cloth and a "light" amount of windex and you're back in business...
But check it out by switchin through the video modes with nothing hooked up.. The faint color you see if the lcd panel that's having the most problem and the one that's muting your green.

I can see faint blue lines occassionally, is this a convergance chip problem?

One of two problems you have.

One is if you go to a unused video input, you should only see the video input number in green, ie video 1 etc.

If you see some blue in the background or faint curved lines you have a screen problem--it may be adjustable and I can tell you how.

Second, these sets rarely have intermittent convergence problems: Picture will look 3d in some way red, green or blue outlines etc.

Let me know which you have and I will help.

The model is more prone to the first problem than the second. Reply to this post with a comment if you need my help.

My KP53V45 has sound and a very faint picture all in green with a number of horizontal lines. It also shuts down after 10 to 15 seconds. Is this a projection lamp issue?

Sounds more like a color wheel, if the color wheel is not working properly the on board computer will shut her down. And will get weird colors or flickering colors.
Sometimes will also make noise.

Faint lines show up when i get dark screens in movies

First check what color of faint lines comes then reduce Screen Volts in TV of that CRT (tube)
Take off lower front cover, speaker grille of TV, there you will see focus control block that has 6 control knobs, upper 3 knobs are focus adjustment of red-green-blue CRTs and lower 3 knobs are screen volt controls for red-green-blue CRTs. Turn screen volt control knob CCW to reduce screen volts of desired CRT.
Put TV on any free AV input so screen will be dark enough to adjust screen volts.

Red spot in the middle of the screen

You most likely have a burn in on the surface of one of the picture tubes. What you need to do to confirm this, would be to take off the front screen, and with the set turned on, look directly into each one of the lenses, and see if you see a mark on the green or the blue tube. if this is the case, and I am pretty sure it is, the picture tube will need to be replaced, but this set is not a young thing, as the green faint lines is most likely a bad capacitor in the screen drive circuit. If the picture tube is indeed burned on the surface, most likely be better off buying a new TV set. Good Luck
