What software do I need to up load my Olympus SP-310 camera photos to my PC ? My PC crashed last month and was reloaded withy out the Olympus software.

You don't. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive.

You can download Olympus software from their web site at http://www.olympusamerica.com

I can't figure this out. I am computer dumb and my husband always did this stuff for me but he died last year.I am trying to get the photos I took into my laptop so I can send them.

Ok this is an easy one.. You need to get a USB cable and software. The download link below, is for the driver, you install this Driver, as administrator, right click, install .exe and select run as Administrator http://www.olympus.co.jp/en/support/imsg/digicamera/download/software/
Now after you install the software you plug in the camera to the PC, via the USB port, (any) and then turn the camera on, it should be detected and then you run the software and "Get" you pictures. Also to help i recommend you get a Picture resizer, and use it to make the pictures the right size to send.. Link below, http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys/Xppowertoys.mspx get it and down load and install, like before, then when you wish to resize a picture, you right click, and select resize.. follow instruction, then you can "Attach" the Picture to an Email.
If you don't have the cable etc. get one from say eBay...link below to give you the idea.

Olympus SP-310 purchased June 2006. Accidentally touched a regular USB (non-Olympus) to the camera's USB port. Now it won't power up or anything. Is it fried, or can it be repaired? JT

Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $89 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa.

If you're running Windows XP then you don't need it. Connect via USB cable, switch on the camera (to view) and press the OK button when the menu appears. The camera will then be seen in windows explorer as a drive and the files can be copied direct to your hard drive. You can then use a better software package to store, view, manipulate and print them.
