MY SONY HBD-DZ810 HOME THEATER IS CONSTANTLY SHOWING PUSH POWER PROTECTOR

The "PROTECT" and "PUSH POWER" messages will flash alternately when the protective device of the amplifier has been activated because a strong signal was input, or if there is a short-circuit detected. Press the POWER button on the unit to turn off the system, and check the following items after "STANDBY" disappears.

1) Are the + and - speaker cords short-circuited?
2) Are you using only the specified speakers?.
3) Is anything blocking the ventilation holes of the system?

Sounds like a power issue, do you have it all hooked up to a surge protector?

Sony ht-ct150 will not power on after power outage

It sounds like you might have experienced a power surge from the wall socket that fried some part of your speakers. You will likely have to have the speakers repaired. Consider investing in a surge protector in the future, and check the user manual for the speakers:

I just bought a Panasonic SA-PT480, set it up, step by step per the manual, powered through 2 surge protectors( the second surge protector is used to completely cut power to devices that dont need constant...

I can't find a manual for this thing, which I believe is part of the SC-PT480 package.

I'd plug it straight into a wall outlet for further fault isolation and treat it like it has never worked, no assumptions.

Surge protectors only address outside power surges. Overheating, speaker shorts yada yada can still happen. Effective self-protection circuitry activation need not be preceded by smoke and light shows.

When the audio cut off did the unit also die, or did it look otherwise alive? If the former...

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts and overloads by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections as a root cause for intermittent shutdown.

Maybe a sleep timer clicked it off. Or if it seems to power on but remains silent some other setting like muting, tape monitor got activated. Or the source audio died. Lots of things.

I had a power surge, which tripped breakers and burned my surge protector, now I have no audio from my receiver, I do have voltage to sub, but Ido not see the indicator light on, do you think the unit got...

pwg03

Most likely the sub and/or the control unit got spiked from the surge. Now I would double check the fuses on the unit because some times they will blow and you just need to replace them.

Also if you have worked on electronics before you may just need to replace capacitor on the unit as well. Anything past that and you will need to replace the unit.

Note if the satellite speakers use standard connection you will be able to use them with another receiver as well.

Let me know if you have any more problems or questions

Protection is usually a speaker wire shorted somewhere. Does that suggest something? Did the two units function okay BEFORE you modified them? Or afte ryou disconenct the speakers?

Amp is probable going into protection mode. Disconnected all speaker and av wires (only power) and check if it switches on. Try to plugged it in also at another wallsocket. Presume PSU damaged by surge

Protector and "push Power"

Please check speaker wires should be properly connected and not touched / shorted.
Push Power Protect is error sign when unit got problem in Power Amp area and mostly its Power Amp Out IC failure.
I would suggest to ask Sony for warranty cover.
