Question about Bosch Plunge Router

1613EVS Plunge Router will not operate. Does not start !

This router has less than ten hours total operating time. Only used for short runs...ten minutes max at one time. Ran last time used about 12 months ago. Pluged in, set the bits depth and attempted to begin routing. Router did not start! Power cord tight with no blimishes. Router condition: appearance like new.

How to assemble the unit

Hi irish,

Welcome to fixya!

You didn't give your model number...

Copy and paste this web address into your browser:

I took a guess that this might be your router. On the left side, under the pic, you'll see a menu called "operator's manual". click on the 2nd one for your manual.
If this is not the model you have, search their site. They should have it.

Hope this helps. Please place a vote for me. Thanks,

Plunge router is stuck in the router base. Porter Cabe 891 router is stuck in the plunge base. Released the buckle and won't come out. What to do? Thanks, Joe

If you are talking about the nut tap on it with a hammer, if you are talking about the tubes you can try cleaning them with air and then using some lubricating fluid to free up the piston/springs. Let me know if you need more help

How to attach 'plunge lock lever' to Bosch 1617 EVS router. I had this router replaced because of corrosion, when I opened the case the lever was detached from plunger. Tricky to attach, any suggestions

I have been repairing the Bosch tools for quite a few years and I still hate putting those levers on. Unfortunatly, there are no "tricks", you just have to set the spring in the lever then use a small screw driver to set the other end in its slot. Then try to rotate the whole thing untill the lever goes into the proper notch. It usually takes me 5 or 6 times to get it in, sometimes it goes in first time (rare). Sometimes I'm at it for 1/2 an hour.

Good Luck

Skil 1820 router doesnt work

Does it have a collet lock that is not disengaged? Are there two switches on that model?
If not, unplug, spin the bit by hand , then reconnect and then try to start it.
Blow out the motor with compressed air.
Check the brushes if they could be worn.
The switch may have gone out on you. That's how they fail, all of a sudden- like. Sometimes a sharp rap will shake something into place, but short of that, I'd just be guessing...

Ryobi RE600 plunge router binds on the posts

Are you cleaning the area that contains the springs also and if so I would use something like a dry lubricant so that it won't attract more dust and dirt but we both know that eventually it will. Coat the posts with this and allow to dry and then push up and down on the motor to lube the bushings and you might have to do it again. You can also try a small amount of 3 in 1 oil but use sparingly.

The plunge lock "slips" when the router is used in a table

You can try to adjust the lever that moves the plunge and see if that helps, but a plunge router isn't made for upside use. If you have the option and use the router upside down often, you may want to get a fixed base.
