Question about Hoover Nextra HNWL 3136 Front Load Washer / Dryer

Open Question

Dryer won't work

The dryer of my hoover washer/dryer won't work. The light on the dial doesn't even turn on. Is there an internal fuse that might have blown? Or could it be something else. The washer functions work fine.

From the look of things, the heating element has burn out. That is, the heating element is defective and not producing any heat, that's why the washing doesn't dry the washing.

Also, circuit breaker or fuse that controls the power may have blown; you may need to reset or replace it. Be aware that a dryer may have two breakers or fuses. The motor will run when one works, but the heating element requires both.

Dryer turns on but will not start

When asking a question it is best to include a Brand name and model number. However this problem sounds like you have blown the thermal fuse in the heater.
There are usually two thermal fuses, one on the heater and one at the lint filter blower box.
The heater can overheat if the airflow is too low usually caused by a dirty or clogged vent pipe. There are other causes such as a bad thermostat. If it is a blown thermal fuse you should change the thermostat too.
Youtube has many videos on dryer and washer repair. I am including a link for a search of youtube dryer thermal.
Look through them and you will probably be able to solve your problem. Good Luck, Tom

Washer filled with water then stopped working, still full of water. Drier works just fine. Happened durring an electrical short in my house, but the fuse that was blown was not linked to the same part of...

You state you had a short in the home. Since the washer is on 110V system, you can try a different outlet and see if the machine works. Although you state that it isn't on the same part of the panel as the washer/dryer, and the dryer works, the dryer is on a different breaker, and it may indeed have had some effect on the panel that hooks to the washer. Try my first option, and let me know how you make out. I believe you'll find that to be the trouble

The dryer works fine, but the washer won't start. My husband replaced the fuse in the front of the washer. The old one was bad. That did not solve the problem. I am not sure of the model number of...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Sorry but with such a fault it is extremely difficult for anybody on this forum to remotely guess what is wrong with your washer. Also I will have to presume that, as the first fuse was blown/bad, the fault has caused the replacement to go the same way (??)
It could be internal wiring/plugs sockets, control panel switches, control PCB.
I fear that your only real option is a service call as the engineer will have the right equipment to safely diagnose what is wrong.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Our Hoover Washer Dryer HW130M has stopped drying on the Tumble cycle. It continues to turn and dial turns to cmpletion but doesn't seem to heat up. Only realised as days cooler and not been using outside...

Yes could be the element but there is also a reset button for the element, designed to trip out if ever gets too hot. Remove the top of the machine and button should be clearly visible. Try this first before committing to a new element

Maytag stackable w/d

Yes, it is inside the front washer lower front panel. Turn off poawer to unit and change w/ 1Amp 250V (regular of slow-blow). Then try only opening washer lid door with full dial pushed in (that would be the 'off' position. Only open/close lid w/ dial in off position. If washer works normally, may have a temp solution. Mine started this way, but ultimately the double relayed door lid switch was going bad and I had to replace it. Instructions/pictures below. Good Luck
