I can't click on anything on my home screen. Gateway N522 series. Won't tab or do anything. Helpppp!!!

Try ensuring that the touchpad hasn't been accidentally disabled (Hold down the '[fn]' key and press the F6 key on your keyboard to toggle the touchpad(mouse) to be enabled or disabled.

Have you tried using an external keyboard and mouse?

If the external keyboard and mouse work then we know it is something to do with the built in keyboard and touchpad on your laptop (likely - but not positively a hardware issue). If it does not work then we know that the issue is likely (but again not positively) software based.

Describe your HP Pavilion dv9000z 17" Notebook Laptop PC PC Notebook Problem my internal mouse is locked, I dont know why and dont know how to fix it (I dont use an external mouse or keyboard). ...

Hi melissamhahn..
Try this solution to your problem
*************************************
To fix an unresponsive touchpad on your laptop, reactivate it by using the Function key on the keyboard and the Fn key.

This process is different for each computer manufacturer.
If unsure which Function key enables and disables the touchpad, try each one at a time and then
attempt to use the touchpad after each one.

A...Locate the "Fn" key of the laptop keyboard.
The "Fn" key has different colored text or the key is a different color.
B...Locate the function (F1 through F12) key at the top of the keyboard that disables or enables the touchpad on the laptop.
The key typically has an icon that resembles a touchpad with a finger touching it or a touchpad with a diagonal line through it.
C...Press both the "Fn" and touchpad Function key at the same time to reactive the touchpad on your laptop.
Move your finger along the touchpad to verify that it works. Press the combination at any time to disable the touchpad again.
Note: Mac computers use "F2" to enable and disable the touchpad.
D. Sony Vaio Users: Start>Settings>Control Panel>Double click the Mouse icon.
Look at the top left hand side of the page, at the top and make sure that the "Tapping" box is unchecked, if it is checked then, you will uncheck it.

How do I disabled the touch pad and only use an external mouse and the keyboard on the lap top?

You do not have to actually disable the touch pad on this laptop to use an "external" mouse. Just plug in your mouse and it will install the drivers if needed and viola, your good to go. If you insist on disabling your touch pad however, you can do that by double tapping the top left hand corner, when you do this correctly, a little orange light will show and the screen will show a notification the the touch pad is disabled. To enable the pad back on, just repeat the same step you used to disable, and the on screen notification will indicate the touch pad is enabled!

Acer aspire 5517 touch pad not working.

Also on this laptop you can hit Fn+F6 to enable or disable the touchpad as well there should be a touchpad disable button to the right of the power button that can be very easy to accidentally press.

I cant get my internal mouse to work anymore. Is there setting that would turn on or off the mouse? My mom always used a plug adn play mouse and now the internal mouse dont work? can you help me

On my acer, holding the function key and pressing F7 will disable the internal mouse. If you repeat the process it will reenable the mouse. This is likely your problem. It may not be the F7 key but the Function keys should have little pictures, and one should indicate it represents the touchpad. If this doesn't work it could be a driver issue. Personally I prefer an external mouse.

Do not check the check box as leaving the touchpad enabled while using an external mouse will not cause any harm.

Mouse

if i were you, i would go into the bios when the machine is booting up, by pressing usually f2 or delete on the first black screen and setting all defaults in the bios, save it, then see if your mouse works. It may be that the bios is corrupt or misconfigured and that is why the integral mouse does not work.
