Im sorry to tell ya that you did all the things I would have suggested, so it sounds like a system control problem or a power supply problem, and if its a good machine then maybe its worth you having a service person look at it?? Most dvd units are not worth it these days, unless there combos or recorders.. Sorry couldnt be of more help.

If your TV has no input selector but has a video input, the TV probably "hides" the video input between the lowest channel on the tuner and the highest channel. That means if your tuner goes from channel 2 to channel 119, the video input will be between 119 and 2. The best way to see if this is the case is to slect channel 2 and then use the up/down channel selector to go down and see if you find the video input. Let me know if this works!

Slide down the cover on remote control. On the bottom right side you'll see a little switch(usually is cowered with the warning white little sticker).Slide that switch to DVD1(or DVD2 if somebody got different setting).Power up DVD/VCR combo press system menu botton,go to settings, change to DVD3(factory default)and there you go.Good luck.

What it so far done, it looks pretty fine. I'd break apart the problem if is posible to do it, i mean maybe you have some other sets around the house or some friend who have them.
i would start over again the installation after this test.
the reason is to know if you can trust in those sets and second maybe with some other try the installation works
