Washer wouldnt drain

first my washer wouldnt drain on ex-large load then it started having problems on the smaller load sizes so i drained the water out with a small bucket when it got down to a couple of inches of water i restarted it and after a couple min it started to smell like something electrical was starting to burn ( that hot plastic burning kind of smell) so i stoped it now im kinda stuck
