I have a pe-150, I have no experience with embroidery machines. Followed all instrutions carefully, but all it wants to do is send the top thread winding around and around bobbin and eat the fabric. What am I doing wrong?

Loosen the top tension a little or tighten the bobbin tension ever so slightly. If that fails you can always color the bobbin threads with a magic marker the same color as the embroidery thread. You might go to Superior Thread's web site and try some prewound bobbins. They are worth their weight in gold. Dr. Bob knows all about all kinds of thread and is very good about answering questions. I think some of his Thread University videos are available too.
sounds like your top thread is not under tension correctly, check your tension number and that the thread is pulled fully into the tension discs, always thread with the presser foot raised up so the tension discs are open to allow the thread to seat in.
I had the same problem, but I then got a shorter bobbin. what is happening is that the bobbin is too tall and the tread is getting stuck in the bobbin. It helped me from trashing my machine.
For embroidery, and zig-zag, and because the needle makes side movements, it needs more needle thread.
So try to keep you needle thread not very tight,
and tight up your bobbin case tension more, so that the two threads meet under the meterial.
If you tighten up your needle thread, reduce the tension of the needle thread.
