Question about Vivitar ViviCam 5385 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Can't download photos to desktop computer from the ViviCam 5385

My computer acts as if nothing is plugged into the USB. I have checked the status of the USB controlerand USB root. Nothing... I tried to ''Get Pictures'' from camera in the Vivitar software and it acts as if it doesn't know about any camera other than the Gateway PC cam. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks

Don't connect the camera to the computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive.

Dear June,
Yes, you might be correct. The cord may be faulty. Take out the memory card and insert it into a memory card reader. Then connect the card reader to your computer and see whether you can download the photos.
