Did you replace the Convergence Resistors at the same time?

If not you need to replace them also.

Hello, I have a 60" Phillips rear projection TV

It sounds like a convergence problem; depending on your skills it may or may not be something you can do (parts cost on EBAY will be under twenty dollars).

I will attach some convergence photos: does your set look anything like these?

If it does and you can solder etc I can tell you the best place to get the parts and how to do it.

Before you rate this information let me know what you find.

No you will need to replace the Convergence Ics and possibly some of the 12 feed resistors. You can get the repair kit for your model at the following link which contains both cinvergence ICs and all 12 resistors plus free instructions with pictures so you can do the repair.

I have a Phillips projection TV Model# 60PP9202 Chassis # DPTV305F with a linear distortion problem. The colors are not aligning. Can I fix my TV myself, or do I have to take it in. Any advice would be...

It soundsa like you have a convergence problem. Probably only one color. (The green and red may be ok but the blue is bowed or any of those combinations) This will require the repklacement of convergence IC's and then alignment. Probably best to have a experienced tech take care of this.

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.
