How do I fix a door that wont stay closed?

The spring probably broke in the latch, or the door balance springs are slack. You have to pull it out and removed the side panels. The latch literally just holds it in place. You should be able to tell if the springs are holding the weight of the door though. Then split the door to inspect the latch.

Maytag MMV4205 door won't stay shut.

After tearing apart my microwave, I found a little spring broke off the latches. Open the door to the microwave, pop off the plastic piece that the latches on the door go through. You will see a spring behind the latch. If the spring is not connected to the latch it won't operate properly. The spring was held onto the latch with a tiny plastic piece that broke off. An easy solution instead of buying a new latch is to heat up one side of the spring without burning yourself and melt it through the latch piece where it was originally connected then put everything back together.
Hope this helps,

My Coolpix S6100 battery latch broke. Can I get a replacement?

As of Sept 2 2016 there are several for sale on eBay, for about 7 dollars to about 12 dollars.
Search for "battery door", not battery latch.

Door will not stay close

Not much data to go on here. The latch on the door has a spring that holds it down in the locked position. when you pull the handle the latch goes up and you pull the door open. You will have to take the door apart and see if the spring broke or the plastic tab that holds the end of the spring is broken.

The 2 hooks(latch) inside the door have lost spring tension.

For no apparent reason, the latch broke on the 9187 ST. Take the door off of the microwave, which isn't too hard. Rotate the door to 90 degrees, lift up, and slide it to the left. Place the door on the counter, latch side up. Use a thin knife or screwdriver to lift the panel that covers the latch. It is very easy to remove it from the door. Then slide the latch up and lift is out. The spring is under the latch. The clip on the latch that held the spring was fractured. So, I drilled a tiny hole in the body piece from where the clip extended. I reattached the spring to the latch, replaced the panel, replaced the door, and it is as good as new.

Microve latch/spring assembly ... have a broken head on the latch which i can repair but cannot see where to attach other side of spring on Maytag MMV5207bas

Unfortunately, the exploded views do not show the innards of the door.

So as new latch head is not available separately, so if you cannot fix yours, a whole new door will be needed.

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) here that demonstrates how it's done.

There's probably a broken spring mounting tab on the door latch head (hook) assembly or the inner door panel.

You can use use epoxy and some kind of hardware to fashion a new spring mount.

If you have to do any gluing, make sure the parts are squeaky clean and dry before you glue them, or it will not hold up.

Good luck!

Camera battery clip

Well, I got the latch and spring back into my DX7630, and so far (half an hour after) so good.

To do this, I had a replacement latch from U.S. Camera ($10 total, latch plus shipping and handling) and the original spring on hand. I took all of the eight screws holding the camera body together. I also pulled off the "rubber" hand grip on the front of the camera. I'm not sure if that was necessary or not, but in doing it I broke off one of the "claws" that secure the grip.

Then I turned the camera so the battery door was on top, opened the door, and gently pried the camera body halves apart. I used "square" wooden toothpicks to hold the body apart so I could get at the latch area. (The battery was not in the camera during all this work.)

There are two small slots in the camera body where the latch is held and pivots. The latch pivots can be slipped into those slots if the toothpicks have the body wedged open widely enough.

The hard part of the assembly is getting that latch spring properly mounted. The spring fits over the rod of the latch. The spring wire has two ends: one is shorter. The shorter-end goes behind the latch on the memory card side. The longer-end makes the job difficult. It must be held so that the spring is under tension while the battery side latch pivot is slipped into its slot, then the memory card side latch pivot is slipped into its slot. The longer spring-end presses against the camera body.

The latch and spring only flew away into the darkness of this room once during the effort, and that happened because I tested the latch a few times before closing the camera body. The body halves should be closed before doing any latch testing.

I put all the screws back into the camera snapped the rubber hand grip back in, put in a battery and a memory card, and at this writing, all seems to be working as designed. Hooray!
