All lights flashing after printing job is finished

have you tried rebooting your printer? or go to the print queue to see if there are any jobs? if there is, try deleting them and restart the printer.

you need to cancel previous pending printing job or allow printer to finish it's by feeding paper on to it until it finish all the printing job.

Click start > open control panel > open printers folder.
Click Add a printer. This launches the Add Printer Wizard.
Click Add a local printer.
Now, Use the drop down arrow to select USB port 001 then click on Next.
Select the Manufacturer as HP from drop down list and select DeskJet 990c from printer drop down list. Click Next.
Verify the printer name and set the printer as default then click next.
Select replace current drivers
Do not select print a test page option.
Click on Finish.

This happens occasionally with myself if I am printing a large number of labels which is taking a while and decide to cut off some already printed labels from a previous job off from the roll before the current label job has finished. It then feeds the roll back past the edge sensor on the front, gets confused and flashes the lights. I don't unfortunately know how or if the printer can be restarted from this point. If I do i'll post here or if you manage to fix it please let me know. It has something to do with me cutting the roll and the roll passing the front edge sensor.

Try putting a piece of paper in tray 1

If its trying to make some mechanical sound, try putting some A4 size papaer in the tray so that to finish any incomplete printing work.

Somewhere during the software install something went wrong. So every time you start the printer it thinks the drivers needs to be reinstalled & it finishes by installing its self again. Open the control panel & uninstall everything that the 3180 has installed on your PC including other perk programs bundled with the printer. Unplug the printer & Re-start the pc when finished.
Go to the link below & download HP's latest software for your 3180.
Follow the manual's instructions to the letter for re-installation.

When you finish the install re-start the Pc. Go back to the HP site above and click the link you see there to: Automatically check to see if the latest driver is installed correctly.

The correction was given by an H.P. workaround program which corrected the effect in Print Preview and in 2 printers.
