I would need to know what kind of washer your working on, but under most circumstances, there are no user resetable breakers on the machine. Unplug the unit and let it cool down, then you will need to find out what is causing the outlet to heat. Could be a machine issue or a wiring issue. Use caution from here on out, this could be a serious condition that could cause a fire. Let me know if you need any other info. Send me a model number and unit type, can tell you more.

Whirpool cabrio does not run or fill

check the power supply to the unit. if no voltage is found on the unit . check the wall outlet.no power at the wall socket ?? check the breaker box for tripped breakers if breaker to the wall outlet is off but good ,leave as is . check for grounds at the unit . if no grounds are present , turn on breaker . if it breaks with the dryer still not plugged in , search for any appliances connected on that line and unplug all. plug in the dryer then start it .if breaker opens , something is wrong with the dryer. call a qualified technician . thanks .

How to Check a Washer when Is Not Filling With Water OTHER washers test similiarly
# Test procedures to follow when a GE Hotpoint washer is not filling

* Disconnect the washer from the wall outlet
* Set the timer dial on regular and pull the knob to turn the timer push-pull switch on
* Set the temperature switch to the cold/cold setting
* Open the controls panel to gain access to the water mixing valve solenoids
* Touch the 2 terminals on the cold water solenoid with your volt meter test proves. Make sure that your body don't touch the washer cabinet, this eliminate the chance of getting an electrical shock.
* Have someone plug the washer cord for you while you check the voltage
* The reading should be 120 volts
* Disconnect the washer from the wall outlet
* Touch the 2 terminals on the hot water solenoid with your volt meter test proves. Remember, to keep your body from touching the washer cabinet to eliminate the chance of getting an electrical shock

#

Have your helper plug in the washer cord again so you could check the voltage at the hot water solenoid

* The reading should be 120 volts. If you get 120 volts, this tells you that the wall outlet, the timer, the water temperature switch cold and hot water settings are working ok.

#

If the GE Hotpoint washer is not filling, the problem should be on the water valve, the screen filters or the water supply
#

If one of the solenoids is bad you will need to replace the complete water mixing valve assembly YOU SHOULD ALSO GET AN OHMS READING OR SHOW CONTINUITY WHEN TESTED UNPLUGGED ON BOTH SELINOIDS HOT AND COLD

Washing machine lights went out and now water is coming out of the door when opened. checked fuse in plug but still machine wont work

Turn fill water off soon.
Sounds like a major problem.
are you sure you have power at the outlet? check with other
appliance. Be careful water and electricity do not mix!
Check circuit breaker in the main panel. If poped try to reset
If pops again, call electrician.
Owner's manual troubleshooting?
No help, Call MFG customer service number.
Warranty? follow that route.

No power to Whirlpool awo/d5727. I have checked the fuse and the socket but still have no power.

You say you checked "socket" and the "fuse," did you mean the AC wall outlet (115V) and a fuse or breaker in the main power panel?
Nearly all circuits involving water are protected by a Ground Fault Interrupter that can be servicing several wall outlets (perhaps one not near the washing machine) or can be located as part of a circuit breaker in your main power panel.
The GFI outlets will have one or two push buttons located between the outlets and a combination GFI/overcurrent breaker will also have at least one button where others will have none.
If you find one that is tripped, try resetting it. If it will not reset, unplug the washing machine and try again.
If it now stays on, your machine may have an electrical path causing it to trip and using an unprotected outlet may be unsafe and an indication that the appliance itself may have electrical leakage which could be otherwise dangerous.
The circuit breakers in the main power panel can also fail (they didn't 20 years ago) and we have replaced 3 in a home only 5 years old already so they are not made well anymore.

Washing machine won't turn on

Hello, first, check the circuit breaker and wall. Make sure the Is power entering into the machine. Or plug another unit to the wall to make sure the outlet is having power. If the outlet has power, that means the power supply of the unit Is with defective. Check the fuse of the machine first.....

Washer seems to cycle fine but the water will over fill

Hello, fill the washing machine with water and when the water is about 1/2 full of water, unplug the washers power cord from the wall outlet.if the water keeps flowing into the washing machine with the power cord pulled the "fill valve"(where the hot and cold hoses are attached to the washer) has mechanically stuck open and will have to be replaced. if the water shuts off when you remove it's power cord from the wall outlet, try plugging the washer in and out a couple more times and if the water stops each time the fill valve indicates as being good.

Thanks

Won't drain

Hi..

To diagnose your solution you need to check this steps that i can provide you
  1. Check that the washer is plugged in securely
  2. Check the circuit breaker of fuse box. "A circuit breaker provides protection for each of your electrical circuits by stopping the flow of current if an overload or fault occurs. When an electrical fault occurs or the load on your circuit becomes too great, the breaker on that circuit trips and interrupts the flow of current to that circuit. A tripped circuit breaker is still sometimes referred to as a "blown fuse" in reference to the older technology that circuit breakers replaced. If your home uses an actual fuse and not a circuit breaker."
  3. Test the outlet for current. You can test an outlet to determine if current can flow with a voltage tester. Always test your test equipment for proper operation before use. If you don't have a voltage tester, simply use a shop light or other convenient electrical device. Start by making sure the tester is working and plug it into a circuit you know is working. Note that if you need to test a 220V outlet, these instructions do not cover that test.

If there is no voltage, make certain that the outlet isn't controlled by a switch. Try all nearby switches and check whether the tester lights up.
If you are troubleshooting an outlet that isn't working, some possibilities include:
  • The fuse has blown or circuit breaker has tripped. Click on the following links for more information on replacing fuses and resetting circuit breaker.
  • The outlet may be in a circuit with a GFCI outlet (ground fault circuit interrupt). If the GFCI outlet has tripped, it may cause other outlets on the same circuit to lose current. Look for an outlet that has a "Test" and "Reset" button. They are often located near water such as in a bathroom or kitchen. If the outlet has been tripped, unplug anything that may have caused the fault and then press the "Reset" button.
  • A wire connection has become loose. A wiring fault can occur in many places, the most common include the outlet box, another outlet or junction box the wire passes through or at the circuit breaker.
  • Outlets can wear out, a replacement may be needed.
4. Check that the water supply valves are turned on
5. Inspect the filter screen.
6. Test for overheating
7. Test the water level switch
8. Test the timer control
9. Test the lid switch
10.Test the water inlet valve

Good luck !!!

PCmania
  1. Inspect the water pump
  2. Test the centrifugal switch
  3. Test the motor

GE Washing Machine

Water level sensor must be malfunctioning and possibly needs to be replaced and/or water inlet electric valve is malfunctioning (getting no "signal" from level sensor to stop filling). Turn of the machine, unplug it, turn off the water and call the repairman unless you'd like a flood or the fire in the house!

No power Check to see whether power is getting to the washing machine. Is it plugged in? Has a fuse blown or is a circuit breaker tripped?

Lid switch If the lid switch is defective, your washer can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washer to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

Some machines have a special lid-switch fuse near the lid switch, inside the control panel. If this fuse blows, the unit won't fill with water until you replace the fuse.
