2) go to sansa website download sansa updater and install it
3) then follow instructions by sansa updater it will then automatically search and install a program for detection of mp3 player on ubuntu install that program its around 16mb .the software will do this you just follow this
4 after completing sansa updater instruction ,go to settings you can now see a usb mode then change to msc mode for detection in ubuntu
I believe the cable is the charger. I have an e250 which charges from the computer. Simply connect the player to the computer using the cable, and when the player is detected by the computer - it is charging!
My friend have a different charger though, but she bought it from the store.
try this before connecting your sansa turn iit off push the hold the right push and hold the enter button and press the menu button. Sansa should be ready take take the firmware update connect when asked to http://mp3support.sandisk.com/sansa/Installer/1082/SansaUpdaterInstall.exe
Most likely why that isn't working correctly is because your usb port on your computer is most likely bad... I know someone who had the same problem and once she plugged the player into another usb port it worked like a charm.
turn on your sansa player. (don't plug into to computer yet)
Scroll through using down area till you get to SETTINGS.
Click down till you see USB.
Choose auto detect for Windows Media Player 10.
Choose MSC if you have Windows Media Player 9 or earlier.
This is what is needed on the C-100.
Go to sandisk.com and get your manual.!
You could try putting the Sansa's in MSC mode. Depending on your Firmware there will be a USB option under settings (Under USB it might be on Auto just select MSC) OR you will need to 1)have the player on (but not plugged in) 2)push the HOLD switch tot he right (towards the REC button [see orange in the hold slot] 3)HOLD DOWN the |<< rewind button (keep this held down) 4)plug the cable into the Sansa (assuming the other end is in the USB port) Wait till you hear it detect it..
If it still does not..
CHECK the Device Manager to SEE if their are any unknown devices under USB unplug the Sansa Delete the unknown and try steps 1 thru 4 again. If you do not know how to get to Device Manager then you will need the help of someone who knows these types of things to show you or look this up on the internet.
