Question about Sony VAIO PCG-V505CP Notebook
Sony Viao PCG - V505CP. No power, no noise, nothing. 2.4v battery inside is less than 1v but that shouldn't stop it powering up no? Any common faults? The AC power supply is supplying correct voltage. Is power supply PCB available? What appears to be a hi wattage resestor reads o/c. 6.3A surface mount fuse reads ok.
If power supply is supplying correct voltage, then you do not need power supply PCB.
Try starting the laptop with AC adapter and no battery, if battery is shorting out you may get same problem.
Test the soldering joint on the AC socket and laptop motherboard, if there is a bad soldering on laprop ac adapter socket, you get same symptoms.
If it is none of the above, and the adapter is fine, then it is usually a faulty motherboard.
