Question about Acer AL1916W 19" LCD Monitor
I recently re-installed Windows XP on my system and while re-installing programs and cd drivers I was asked to restart my computer so that the changes would take effect. However after restarting, my monitor loads up normal until it is to display my computer screen and it just says"Auto Config Please Wait" and that was since the night before. What can I do? Please help!
You can try the following:
- Early (very) in the boot routine tap either F5 or F8 to access a short startup menu
- Choose 'Safe Mode' (this should give you some kind of display)
If it does give you a screen;
- Click Start
- Select Control Panel
- Open the System folder
- Click on Hardware
- Choose Device Manager
- Find and open Monitors
- Highlight whatever monitor is listed and delete it
With your monitor turned on and connected, reboot your PC.
I can't guarantee it but this may force Windows 'Plug and Play (or Pray)' to look for, find and then finally install some kind of driver (may not look like you want) to get your Desktop visible again.
Then you can adjust settings in the ontrol Panel's Display section.
Your monitor could be causing the problem but it is more likely Windows doing whatever it feels like (or nothing at all) again.
