SOURCE: Jenn-Air JMC7000 Microwave Stopped working

So it's dead? (No display, no inside lights, no beeps?)

A microwave can be dead for many reasons.

If it goes dead for a while during or after cooking then comes back on, the magnetron is probably overheating and causing the thermostat to open. When it cools, it closes the circuit and allows power through again.

If it's random, it may be a bad connection, usually on the control board or fuse holder.

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it went dead a few seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer.

If the fuse is good, it may be an open thermostat or thermal cutout on or near the magnetron or on top of the cavity / body of the oven.

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information and disassembly information at our site, linked here on Fixya: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

SOURCE: jenn-air microwave JMC 7000 ADB has no power

I have a different Jenn-Air built in microwave & oven combination but I'm sure my solution will work for you as well.

My microwave was plugged into an outlet located on the top of the oven. This outlet has a "circuit breaker" that tripped while we were using the self cleaning feature on the oven. You just need to reset the breaker button right next to the wall oven outlet. Why it tripped is a mystery since the microwave was not in use at the time. Bad design.

Of course, getting to the reset button is your only challenge. You need to pull the microwave and oven out of the wall/cabinetry in order to get to it. The unit is heavy so you will need help. Or, call a certified repairman and they should be able to do this for you in 30 minutes or less so the service call should not run you more than @$85 if it is no longer under warranty.

I would also suggest you contact Jenn-Air to complain about this issue and seek reimbursement from them if necessary.

SOURCE: JENN AIR MICROWAVE FUSE (JENN AIR MODEL M167)

The fuse holder may be loose.

With the microwave unplugged, if you can easily turn the fuse with your thumb & forefinger while it's in the holder, it has overheated and fatigued and should be replaced.

Simply squeezing its terminals together with pliers is not really a good solution.

When a connection is loose, heat results, which eventually melts the fuse internally.

This is usually evidenced by a very tiny ball of solder at the point where the end cap meets the body of the fuse.

You can use a generic holder - it's a lot cheaper than ordering one. The connectors should be 1/4" tabs and it should be rated at 20 amps or better.

You should be able to get one from a home center or local appliance parts store.

If it's not loose, then it may be a failing magnetron or high voltage transformer pulling too much current.

It's either the fuse or the thermostat on the magnetron.

How do I replace light bulb on my Jenn-Air microwave?

Hi.

You will need to partly disassemble the oven by removing the outer cover held by screws (the cover part 2 on the first diagram). once there you will see the bulb hand side, located on the right (the bulb is part 6 in second diagram).

Before disassemblying the appliance disconnect power, by tripping circuit breaker or unplugging the power cord.

Here the replacement part for the model JMC9158AAS, listed in title: PS391758 .
Diagrams below are also for Jenn-Air JMC9158AAS.

If you have a different model, use the links listed here: Where do I find parts and diagrams for my appliance?

Here the diagrams. Click on the pictures to enlarge.

Diagram 1:

Diagram 2:

Unless you are a technician or a trained DIYer, better ringing the number listed on the owners manual to call service support. A badly assembled microwave will be dangerous for your health. The capacitor inside the microwave can also release dangerous discharge, take care and observe safety prescriptions while disassembling.

We have a Jenn Air Microwave Over our built in oven. The light is burned out. How do we replace it? it is a jmc 7010ADB. Thank you Jan G

Mine is JMV8166BAS over-the-range model, and yours may be similar. Disconnect electric source (pull plug, or turn off circuit breaker).
1. Locate and remove 2 Phillips head screws on top projecting from cabinet/wall,etc,
2. Carefully & slowly, slide entire front vent 1/4" towards your left simultaneously pulling toward you.
3. Remove vent filter, if any.
4. In very center maybe beneath filter space, locate approx.4" width aluminum colored metal cover, possibly held in place with Phillips head screw.
5. Remove screw, exposing small light bulb.
6. Gently pull back on bulb, replace with identical wattage, 120V bulb from big box or appliance store.
7. Human touch may shorten life of bulb, so carefully push wire prongs into plastic bulb inlet socket using whatever allows you to grip bulb in the limited space.
8. Reverse 5 - 1 for reassembly. Before replacing vent assembly, notice the small notched angle clips on the bottom before aligning to microwave unit, as these were slightly tricky on my unit when inserting & sliding assembly 1/4" toright.

Turntable doesn't turn. The microwave is about 9-10 years old. Should I just replace it ? Is there a newer model that would fit the trim kit for the JMC 7000adb?

You can replace the entire oven if you like, or you can purchase a replacement part for about $40. This problem is commonly caused by a turntable motor that has worn out and needs replaced. The following link explains how to access and replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3555716-replacing_a_turntable_motor_on_a_microwa

If the model number is correct, the part number is 56001231.

You can purchase replacement parts at the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

The first three sites listed offer helpful exploded view diagrams to assist you in parts location/identification. I think appliancepartspros.com carries the part for the best price. If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

JMC 8100ADB

Check the capacitor with an ohmmeter, if the meter reads 0 ohms the capacitor is bad and needs to be replaced. More likely, though, the magnetron is bad.
