New laptop computer with windows 7 - unable to connect. all other laptops/computers connecting fine. Can see the SSID in the list but won't connect.

Hi, Check the following cause for your problem.
1. Check whether your network adapter is installed.
2. Check the secrete password is same for your new laptop , if not apply the secrete password fixed by you to other systems to connect the network ( By default SSID is the password fixed in most factory)
3. Check whether you have addressed the router in the web address page, if not consult your router documentation to find the exact router model address and when you connect with the router home page it will ask you for the user name and the password you can find it in the router documentation
From your question these are the possibilities, still facing problem kindly comment with more details of your exact problem..
Thank you

Unable to contact router via laptop

What is the Operating system on the laptop ?
If it is XP then in the bottom right hand corner you will find Wireless network connection ( looks like 1 computer monitor). Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is windows Vista, then in the bottom right hand corner you will find 2 computer monitor icon. Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is Windows 98/ME/2000 then use the adapter utility to connect to the wireless network.
For MAC you will see the AIRPORT icon at the top.

Check the wireless settings of the router first . Make sure that yopu have all the wireless settings of the router. If you are not sure about the settings, then open the router set up and check the settings.

I have hooked it up as the instructions state but it will not find the internet, I am useing a hp laptop and am trying to go wireless, it is the vista system

No its not your windows system, try to check again your wireless router if the software firmware are installed properly in your PC. Also to configure it and connect your internet provider to the Router, which is automatically create its own Protocol Address or Obtain Address, even on Wireless connection. This is basic on Wireless Router to connect on the internet. Good luck!

No conncections

SSID is the network name for your routers network. If you use a linksys router, then the default SSID is Linksys (don't know what it is for others, but would be easy to find out from their website, and the manual for the router.).

SSID's should always be changed, and secruity encryption enabled, when yu set up a wireless network.

Hi, May be your router is now running a more secure algorith and needs password etc which the old one can't handle. You may have to downgrade your router to the older system..not a good idea.

Acer with Windows Vista does not connect to Internet

You're laptop needs to have a profile for the router. Go to Network and Sharing Center, Manage Wireless Networks. Please remove all the listed networks there. Now click on Add, then Add a Network in Range of this Computer. Select the wireless name of your router and connect. If it asks for a network key, please type your wireless security key then connect. That should do it.

Wireless conncection

depending on who your ISP is, you need an ethernet cable coming from the modem into the WAN/Internet port on back of router. Once that is in you can try to connect wirelessly using the settings your router is setup for :

SSID/network name
encryption type
encryption key/passkey/passphrase
-- this part is dependent on above setting
wireless channel
