The left half of my LG LCD TV is going bad. Can anyone suggest a fix before we have to pay a repair tech?

I've been getting intermittent pixels on all channels on this TV and now when it's turned on the left half of the screen is totally messed up but after a while it goes away (for now). This TV is almost three years old. It's getting worse daily and I'd sure appreciate any help greatly!

OMG i'm having the exact same problem with my LG 42" LCD tv that is 3 years old. I was told that the LCD was bad and that it would cost me $624 to fix. I don't know what to do with this tv.

I just fixed this problem on my friend's a couple of days ago. It is indeed the tcon board. It does not need to be replaced though! I just took it apart, cleaned the grounding connections with isoprol alcohol, and double checked all connectors. Turned it on and it worked great! I hope this helps yours and anybody else's problem! A lot cheaper than sending it in for repair. Don't try this if you're inexperienced at fixing electronics though. There are some high voltages built up in the power supply.

The T'Con board might be faulty. You have to check all the connection strip wires goes to in and out for any loose. T'Con [Timing Control Board] board is one which controls the pixels on the LCD screen.

Thanks for the help... Would this possibly explain why the left side of the TV keeps looking scrambled now? It's intermittent at this point but sometimes completely wipes out the left half of the screen and then after a while it seems okay again once the set has been on for a while. I'd really appreciate any added advice!

It will be best to get the set repaired by any well experienced service technician. Because, the strip wires that goes in and out to the board are of carbon conductive types, and can be easly damaged if handled carelessley. More over there is a lock for each end of these wires, that only an experienced one can take it out and reinsert in to safely. The fault is loose contact itself.

SOURCE: lost half of picture

This can be on the matrix drive board, or the display assembly itself. It is possible to also have a defect in the address decoding area that will cause this.

The procedure is to swap out the suspect boards to determine where the fault is, leave the working boards in the set, and then follow up any necessary calibrations that are necessary.

Left half of screen dimmer than right

same issue with my 47le5900 - I have fixed it... if I look through the back panel I can see a circuit board on the right... coming out of this at the top are two flat data cables, each about 1 1/2 inches wide, one is labeled (L) the other (R), it seems the (R) one was a little loose, so I pressed it downwards with a small screwdriver, problem solved.

LG 50PK750 turns off as soon as I turn on

This issue is a common, but hardly talked about from LG. Your tv is probably 1 or 2 months out of warranty, and now you're hearing a series of clicks. ... If you have the courage to open the back cover of your tv, and you do "NOT" see any bad (bulging ) capacitors on the power supply, then it could be the voltage regulator. After weeks of fighting with LG to replace my tv, i decided to fix it myself. i'm proud to announce that my 50PK540 is now working. want proof? Take a look at the video i posted on youtube, then you will have a better understand why your tv is clicking... I'm also selling the repair kit for this power supply board on ebay now. LG power supply Board model number EAY60968801. With anyone of these PCB # EAX61392501/7, EAX61392501/10, EAX61392501/11, or EAX61392501/12 with the parts if this kit, I've also fis several 50PK750 models, Some clients have send me their broken power supply board, so I can do the repairs. Please Make sure that you've already gone through the process of troubleshooting and testing your tv's power supply board before making any purchases.. I recommend that you get a tv tech to check it out, because every tv is different. Email at [email protected] if you have any questions.and watch the video: part 1 & 2

46in Vizio LCD HDTV distorted black picture when tv is turned on

Hi There are three things that can cause this problem. Your lcd screen, t-con board or the signal board. Most likelly in your case since you say it's only half the screen it's going to be your t-con board. You can try removing it and cleaning all the contacts and replacing it see if that helps. If that doesn't help then replace it. If that does not solve it then it's going to be your screen.

You can get parts at www.interliquidparts.com

While watching tv it suddenly cut off,now it is making a clicking sound and will not turn back on

If you remove the back you will find a couple of electrolytic caps that need replace, and/or just replace the power supply. That should take care of your problem.
