You can change a Windows User Account password that is on any Windows computer from any other Windows computer regardless of whether the User Account is on a workstation, a stand-alone server, or a Windows domain controller. Additionally, it makes no difference whether the password being changed from a workstation, a stand-alone server, or a Windows domain controller. This is true for any NT 4.0, W2K, XP Pro and Windows Server 2003 computer.
To change a user's password at the command prompt, log on as an administrator and type:

net user danielp * /domain
(This is only an example, use your own username)
When you are prompted to type a password for the user, type the new password, not the existing password. After you type the new password, the system prompts you to retype the password to confirm. The password is now changed.
Alternatively, you can type the following command:

net user danielp 123456 /domain
When you do so, the password changes without prompting you again. This command also enables you to change passwords in a batch file.
Note: If you type these commands on a member server or workstation and you don't add the /domain switch, the command will be performed on the local SAM and NOT on the DC SAM.

Service Pack 2 (SP2) appeared on 2004-08-06. It is an important upgrade and should be installed on all Windows XP computers. The same is true for Service Pack 3 (SP3), which appeared on 2008-05-06.

However, due to the general tightening of security, there is the potential that some security measures interfere with special functions you had been using on your computer, and you may have to loosen some security settings accordingly. Given the complexity of some Windows XP installations, there is also always some potential for some other defect to show up.
List of fixes included in Windows XP Service Pack 2

Available disk space is used as follows (LIS = Local Install Source, the install files remain on disk; CAB = files of type .cab, cabinet).
Free disk space Features 600 MB Minimum for safe installation
(and safe operation of Windows XP) < 1.5 GB No LIS 1.5 .. 2 GB LIS and used CABs > 2 GB LIS and all CABs A general advice, particularly after changing hardware, is to power everything down, including any routers, cable modems, switches, hubs, and the like, wait 10 seconds, then power them up again. Rebooting without powering down is not enough in some cases.

Your problem may not be related to Service Pack 2 at all. If you have the firewall set up properly, but still have network problems, continue with the Windows Network Problem Solver page.
Microsoft offers free technical telephone support for Service Pack 2. In the US call (800) 936-5700 and press 0 to get to an operator. Ask for technical support on SP2.

Without a recovery disk, you have a big problem. The Vista Key is locked to Lenovo so you need a Lenovo Vista CD.

You could screw around and hope that you get something out of Lenovo to fix your problem but I would seriously look at installing Windows 7 Home Professional. It is much better than Vista. With 2GB you should be OK, but more memory wouldn't hurt.

I have a lenovo y410 with windows vista premium

try loading or running another copy of Vista on the hard drive, this will overwrite the former but don't format the drive. this will copy ur work into a folder called "window.old", when you are through, go to this folder and transfer ownership of the folse, subfolder into the new administrator. this will not open the files until you click on the properties of every files, goto security, change the owenership to the new administartor, then allows ful acess to the file. NOTE, Installing new Vista program automatically overwrite old adminstartor, but not the files in it. Good luck
