have a Canon Pixma iP4300 printer and the Yellow ink is not printing. I
have changed the particular cartridge and all other colours are working except
Yellow. I have cleansed the printer several times and tried with new Yellow ink cartridges with new chips, but nothing helps. What should I do?
E5 - The ink cartridges are not installed or a non-supported ink
cartridge is installed , or the ink cartridges are not installed
In certain models of Canon Pixma printers such as the Canon MP160 and
Canon MP150, you may receive an E5 error when trying to print. In this
state, you will not be able to use any of the functions of your
printer. The error itself is an ink cartridge error. It may be that you
are using generic or off-brand ink cartridges in your Canon Pixma
printer. Canon Pixma printers do not work with other brands of print
cartridges; invest in Canon brand ink cartridges and this should take
care of your problem.
First of all... have you tampered with the printer's firmware? If not, it's unlikely it became corrupted. But if replacing the ink cartridges with fresh ones, and using a new print head did not fix your problem, you may be out of luck.
Is this a new problem, or has it always been like this?
Could it be that the print driver is always printing photo? In that case, it uses the narrow black ink cartridge instead of the fat 3eBK cart. You should print a nozzle check pattern and verify that you see the 3eBK cartridge pattern. If you do, the problem is likely SOFTWARE... your driver settings, not the printer itself.
Ink has run out.
Replace the ink cartridge and close the Scanning Unit (Printer Cover).
If printing is in progress and you want to continue printing, press the Stop/Reset button for at least 5 seconds with the inkcartridge installed. Then printing can continue under the ink outcondition.
The function for detecting the remaining ink level will be disabled.
Replace the empty ink cartridge immediately after the printing. The resulting print quality is not satisfactory, if printing iscontinued under the ink out condition.
