Toshiba satellite a100 wont take on power or boot

Hi, my computer has a habit of working some days and not others. There seems to be a pettern in that when using the laptop on battery alone it wont recharge using the AC adapter nor will it run on a second fully charged battery.... just to clarify (for my benefit) I'm using the laptop plugged in to the AC, if I disconnect the AC or turn off the computer it wont reboot. If I leave it on just the batter and it runs out it wont take the AC. If I remove the battery and get it going on just the AC its fine till I turn it off then it wont reboot again. This usually last for around 24 hours then it seems to take the AC again.

I have swapped AC power packs, purchased new a battery but its still the same problem happens. Anyone have an answer or like problem?

The battery does charge when the computer chooses to accept the AC... if I pull out the AC however then it wont accept iot again and as such the battery runs out till the laptop stops again.... 24 odd hours later it accepts the AC and charges the battery again. The short solution has been to simply leave the laptop on.

I have a toshiba laptop, and in the last few weeks something weird started happening. When the laptop is plugged into the AC, the power meter in windows tells me that the power source is still batteries, and the battery level drops by about 1% every few hours, but it never turns off, meaning it is recieving power from the AC. But the LED displays show nothing lit except the power icon and HDD icon. The AC, and Full/Charging battery lights do not seem to light up at all.

Now my battery has completely died, and i decided to just run the laptop on AC power and remove the battery pack. When i shut down last night and tried to turn on this morning it gives me the low battery indicator (flashing yellow light) even though the laptop is plugged into the AC. I got a fully charged battery pack and plugged it into the laptop and still it gives me the same low battery indication and will not turn on.

This is very frustrating and I would greatly appreciate some advice on how to fix this problem ASAP.

SOURCE: Toshiba satelite A100 rejects AC... often.

Just to humor me, are you using any peripherals with your laptop when this happens, such as a wireless mouse, USB connections such as digital cameras? Try to take these away when recharging.

There seems to be 2 issues here.
1) Recharing batteries: To prepare the batteries for long-term use (I do not know how long you've had the batteries...try draining the batteries (both of them), and then recharging it to full 2x before using them without the AC Adapter. This should clear the problem.

2) AC Adapter only works every other day: When you swapped the power pack, was it with a new AC adapter, or another used one? Also, have you tried using a different outlet than the one you normally use? Let me know how this turns out.

The power supply might be faulty. Look around on eBay and Best Buy, amongst other stores for one.

Laptop monitor goes black

If you're working on the computer when that happens, it's not probably a power setting. Try to update your BIOS to the most current version at the toshiba support website (support.toshiba.com) & see what happens. Fixes the issue most of the time

I hope this helps.
