Find where the cable makes contact near the wheel, with the lever of the brake. squeeze the 2 levers toghether(rubber-bands are useful) then loosen the bolt holding the cable. take out some of the slack and re-tighten. remove rubber band. repeat as necessary to achieve desired tension. hope this helps!!?

Men Mountain Bike (26"): How to adjust tention on the rear brakes...

Your bike likely has linear pull brakes so you will need to a. loosen the pinch bolt that holds the brake cable to the noodle (down at the wheel). You then pinch the brake in towards the rim with your hand until it's almost touching and then retighten the cable. You can then do some fine adjustment on how close the brake pads are the rim with the adjusting nuts up at the levers.

Terrible instructions for installing caliper brakes

The cable has a stop on it that threads thru the lever housing. It also usually has an external threaded nut for adjustment. You need to start the adjustment process by screwing the "nut" all the way against the housing. Then you move to the "caliper" itself. The cable is held in place by a compression nut. Pinch the caliper with your hand until it is almost touching the rim and then tighten the pinch bolt. You can then fine tune the adjustment by using the nut next to the lever housing. As you screw that nut out the brake pads will move in towards the rim and vice versa...hope this helps!

Brake assembly help!!!!!!!!!

1. the other end of the brake cable with the stopper, insert to the handle brakes.there is a guided slot for it.
2.go to the brake assembly.loosen the nut and find the small hole at the shaft of the flat head bolt.insert the cable.
3. adjust the brake.pull the cable until it is in the best tension, slowly rotate the brake nut to keep the cable in place.
4. try to grip the brakes and try pushing the bike while testing the tires if it skid.try to ride it to so that your weight will be calculated with the brakes.

hi,
When you try to put the wheel in, is it getting caught on the brake, if it is, the brake caliper unhooks from the cable

Are the forks bent, you can tell because if one of the fork legs line up with one side but not the other then the chance are that the forks have been bent somehow.
