The motherboard is dead most likely, if the cpu fan is running ? the hdd can be heard running ? the cd/dvd device is active ? then the motherboard is toasted. what is the system ?

Why cant i get my 4x 2gb ddr2 800 to work on my asus p5qc mobo? it will run fine with just 4gb 2x ddr2 800 but when i add the other 2x ram i get black screen at boot

Be sure to check which slots you are putting them in, stay within the same colors as to which needs to be put in.

This may be why, looks like your using DDR2
DDR2 1066MHz DIMMs work only on the black slots for one DIMM per channel. Ensure to install the DDR2 1066MHz DIMMs ONLY on the BLACK slots!

This may be the case for all speeds of DDR2

P5qc power failure

What you should try always, is to reset the BIOS by clearing the CMOS. On some motherboards, you can use jumpers instead of unplugging the power and taking the battery out. If it still turns on without you pressing the power button, you should look into your BIOS and see if you need to change some settings about A/C Power Loss in the Power section.

ASUS P5QC refuses to boot

This is a known issue with Asus motherboards. I got 2 in my shop with the same problem. While I didn't have your model I'll assume the issue is on that board as well.

Clear cmos with the jumper on the motherboard. This resolves the issue with no video.
There should be a 2 pin jumper, your motherboard manual will show you where its located.

Good Luck

How much power is the power supply? Could be the power supply not having enough power for your rig.

ASUS Asus P5QC Motherboard

Hello edwardfuller:

Do the same as you did, only this time remove all plug in boards and if there is anything connected to the mother board such as extra fans, speakers, and so on, remove all.
The board will detect any shorts, or overloads or problems in cards and so on , and will not turn on.

If it still will not work, check your memory sticks.
Remove all memory and place one at a time in the first slot, and then proceed to turn on and test.
By elimination, you can find the problem.
If all fails, then something may be wrong with the mother board.
take care, hope this will help,
