TWO POSSIBILITIES HERE. ONE, CHECK TO SEE IT THE CARD IS " LOCKED ". YOU SHOULD FIND A VERY SMALL SWITCH BELOW THE TOP EDGE THAT SAYS LOCKED IN ONE POSITION AND IT'S OPEN IF IT ISN'T IN THE LOCK POSITION. TWO,WHICH IS THE BUMMER, YOUR CARD MAY HAVE GONE CORRUPT" FATAL " LIKE THE BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH AND IS DEAD. IT'S BEEN AWHILE SINCE I'VE PLAYED WITH WIN XP, BUT IF YOU CAN OPEN COMPUTER AND THE CLICK ON THE CARD, CAN YOU RUN CHKDSK ON IT? THAT MIGHT CLEAR ANY ERRORS ON THE CARD AND THEN TRY TO FORMAT AGAIN. TRY THESE AND IF THEY DON'T WORK, REPLY TO ARCLIGHT1217, AND WE'LL WORK ON IT SOME MORE! GOOD LUCK!

Hi I have 8gb Transcent Micro Sd Card that is encounted a problem when i m downloading using 5130. After that its not opening Its Says that not Formatted. when i insert in to my pc only showed my card...

If there are hidden partitions on the memory card, Windows 7 will not allow you to change the partition. So to format use a PC with windows XP or older. You also could format this card in most camera's. For that place the card in a SD adapter and put it in your camera. Let the camera do the format.
When you put the card back in the phone, make sure you first format the card with the phone software. Just to be sure the phone can read and write the card.

Go to Control Panel ' Adminitrative Tools ' Computer Management
In Computer Management find Disk Management, if the card is being recognized at all, then it will show up as a removable disk. Right click on the disk and you can format it.

When i inserted 4GB pendrive in the pc when i open the pendrive it doesn't open and shows write protection and it can't be formatted at this situation.

1.Look for a switch or button on the side of the micro SD card or adapter. It might have a lock/unlock symbol on it. 2.Move the switch to the "Unlocked" position to remove write protection. This position may also be labeled "R/W" for read/write. If you have no switch, continue to Step 3. 3.Download and install Sony EzRecover (see Resources for link) and attempt to use it to format the card (this will erase all content). If this doesn't work, try Step 4. 4.Delete and repartition the micro SD card using Windows XP. Select "Control Panel" > "Administrative Tools" > "Disk Management." Select the micro SD drive and click "Delete." Right-click on empty drive and select "New Partition."

I'm unable to format my 4gb Sandisk High Capacity SD card. The response I'm getting is that the disk is write protected.

Hold the SD card so the label is upright and facing you. Locate the switch on the left side and slide it up to unlock it. If you have a Micro SD card, put it into an SD card adapter. Slide up the switch on the adapter to unlock it.

Insert the SD card into your computer. If you do not have a built-in SD slot on your computer, then connect it with a USB adapter.

Open the Computer icon on the desktop. A window will open with a list of the available drives. Locate the drive the represents the SD card. The name of the drive may differ depending on you named it, or what the default name is.

Right-click on the drive and select Format. If it asks what you would like to format it to, select "FAT32" and click Start.

We just bought a 4gb micro sd card with sd adapter and it is not recognized on our computer. Is this a software problem?

When the flash memory device appears to malfunction it maybe possible to restore it by reformatting it. Insert the flash drive into the USB port then Click on Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management.
Then right click on Disk 1 removable drive and click Format. After the flash drive has been formatted it will indicate that it is Healthy.

You need to format the external drive. Format the drive as primary drive and in FAT32. (FAT32 will allow data to be exchanged between MACs and PCs).
Insert the external hard drive into the USB port then Click on Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management.
Then right click on Disk 1 removable drive and click Format. After the flash drive has been formatted it will indicate that it is Health

My USB says that it is 4gb, but when i go to properties, it says that over half of the space has been used, yet there isnt anything in my USB!!!???

Hello...Pal! You will have to format your disk using your computer so that it works properly. You have two options to format for micro sd card. One is, you are to open my computer and right click on the sd card drive and choose format option. This will display a window, there is a option of quick format, make a check sign to this and press format button. Second is, go to start menu -> Program Files -> Accessories -> and choose command prompt. when command prompt window opens, type e.g, "format K:" and press enter, if it ask for volume label, type its drive name like Personal (C:), only type the name e.g, Personal, and if it does not ask for volume label, press enter one more time, then this will show a surity message, type Y and press enter, your micro-sd card will be format successfully.

Motorola SLVR won't format my memory card.

I am not sure this will work, just a suggestion

Try inserting the micro sd card in the larger sd adapter that will allow you to put it into your computer reader. Try formatting it there instead
