Are you having a problem playing vcr tapes ? or are you having a problem setting up the channels?
and is this your vcr?
Need details of how to - 12e0924.jpg or do you have a dvd player , because thats what you have it listed under, but if you have the vcr and you are having problems playing vcr tapes ( tracking can be adjusted on the remote) but the head may be dirty and it does have auto tracking. or inside the player there is manual scews to readjust the tracking setting.
if it is the channels that are a problem then you can auto program the channels in the menu options

Try this one
There is a small hole just to the left of the plugs in the back call 'reset.' Open up a paper clip and use it to press the button inside the hole. It will initialize the VCR settings to the default

Try the following steps.

1. Eject any CD inside. Turn off the unit
2. Unplug the power cable for about 5 minutes then plug the power back in.
3. Using the remote, hold the power button for about 10 seconds
4. Or on the unit itself, hold the power button before plugging the power cable back in.
5. Wait for 10 seconds before you release the power

Hope that helps!

Hi,

Initially, pls try unplugging from the mains for an extended period of time. Additionally, pls confirm the model number. I could not find any listing for an RCA VRA905, there is however a Samsung DVD905. In some versions, a soft reset could be performed by unplugging, press and hold the power/standby button while plugging in; in some others it could be a combination of keys while in others, there would be a small recessed button at the front or rear for a hard reset.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi again,

    Appreciate the quick postback.

Most VCRs do not have a reset button/feature unlike some DVD players. To your concern "NEED TO RESET TO DEFAULTS TO RETUNE TO PLAY VCRs.", could you pls clarify:

    • retune;

    • play VCR.
The way I read it is, you can not watch the movies played in the VCR? If yes, perhaps it is not the VCR that has to be tuned but rather the TV? Meaning the TV is not set to receive the signal output of the VCR. In most PAL models, there would be a hole somewhere where the antenna cables are connected. It would contain an adjustment screw that is used to adjust the channel/frequency of the RF out which is normally in UHF. Often likewise, there would be marking saying something like 39~50 indicating the channel. Should this be the case, pls tune your TV to regular broadcast channel 39 and adjust the VCR till you receive said video feed from the VCR.

Alternately, perhaps the TV is set to CABLE and not AIR or regular broadcast hence it can not receive the VCR's signal.

Rca drc8295n reset parental codes I bought this unit at a yard sale for five bucks... It plays cd, vhs tapes, but when I put a dvd in it wont play and I see a pad lock on the little display. I am assuming...

Page 55 of the user manual shows a way you may be able to 'reset' the player back to factory defaults and/or if a parental lock has been set and the password is unknown/forgotten:

* Press the STOP button on the front of the unit while you press the STOP button on the remote control-keep pressing both buttons for approximately 3 seconds (until the 'padlock' icon disappears from the front panel display). Release both buttons (the player should be unlocked). If that doesn't work, try resetting the DVD/VCR (instructions are listed below).

* Reset the DVD/VCR: on the front of the unit, press and hold the STANDBY/ON button while you press and hold the STOP button-wait at least 3 seconds before you release both of the buttons.

You'll need to set up your menu preferences because this Reset Procedure returns the DVD/VCR's menus to the factory default settings and also erases the disc library.

You can always go to the above site and download the free pdf of the owner's manual for this model if necessary (follow the prompts).

Give the suggestions a try before considering downloading the documentation.

there is no easy way to reset it. in most cases if you can't reset it by default code, then you're wasting your time to get it reset. your best bet is to get a new one, most combo dvd/vcr goes for 40 to 80 bucks.

How to reset the default value for the toshiba sd 6100 dvd player

If you want HDMI 'Auto' mode (the factory default), you need a combination of selecting the proper output mode (use the remote's 'Progressive' button to toggle between the four output modes: HDMI, RCA VGA, component video out and s-video. Once you're in HDMI mode (the led's on the front of the box are a dead give-away!), then you can press the front panel 'HDMI Select' button to move through the five available HDMI settings: 480P, 720P, 1080i, 1080P and 'Auto'. You're in 'Auto' mode when all four led's are lit.
