Question about Canon PIXMA iP3000 InkJet Photo Printer
What should i do?
See this --As a technician, I have worked on tons of printers. This particular error had stumped me for a while, but I finally found the cause. As others had pointed out before, it can have alot to do with some obstruction in the print path, the gears, or ink on the clear plastic encoder strip. You're on the right track - I found the the purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) was not lubricated well enough from factory. If you lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps) the mechanism can now slide more freely, and the unit can park the head properly without giving you the dreaded head homing error 5100 (or E-2-2 on the LCD display) Keep in mind that this repair will probably require you to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism. There are two screws behind the printer, and two in front for each corrosponding side panel (the front screws are behind the grey front panel of the printer - open the top cover to see the clips which hold the front cover on) Hope this helps some of you out.

hi raheel, hope i could help you. I think you got a problem with the sensor strip inside your printer. Try to look at it maybe it got messy and the reason a printer head cannot run properly and you got that error.
I can't show you the exact image because my camera was at our store. But hope you could understand this:
Look at the image, you can see a "TRANSPARENT" horizontal strip object which controls the movement of the printer head slots. Try to wipe that with CLEAN tissue paper with a little amount of water.
Here's another one. Try to follow this instruction.
1. Remove the plug of the printer
2. Press and Hold the Power button(don't release).
3. Plug the Printer
4. Release the power button
5. Switch on printer.

Had the same problem, i just replaced the black ink cartridge which was finishing at that time and resetted the counters. No problems after that. Not sure whether this will help though.

SOURCE: service error 5100
may be the driver are not installed correctly ... just try reinstalling the drivers ... and make a check that you have inserted the ink cartilage or not ...
if not insert it and then give try ... it may work ..
if problem persists then call the service rep ...

I have a canon ip 1300 produces an error(both LED's are alternately blinking one blink for the green led and 5 blink from the orange led) then it will produce an error 5600.
