Problem for LG (GDR8164B) Internal DVD Drive
I have an LG dvd/cd dual layer burner
Last week, I found that all my e-mails had disappeared from thunderbird along with all my addresses.
Then today I went to use my player and found that it has been removed from my computer also. It shows up in the system properties under dvd players, but it says the drivers may be corrupt as I also have another cd/dvd burner as well. I have tried to find new drivers but am unsure of the model of my burner. I do have the disc but that is useless when the burner doesn't even work.
I have done an anti-virus scan and nothing came up to indicate a problem, I was wondering if someone had managed to hack into my system, as my msg on msn that lets ppl know what u r up 2, had also been changed.

have you tried roll back drivers or uninstall drivers then update drivers in: control panel / system properties / hardware tab / device manager / then click the + sign next to disk drives , right click on choosen disk drive then click on properties
or my computer / right click on drive letter , then click properties?

Unless you always download & delete your email to read locally, your mail should still be available at whatever email service you use.
If you go to the Control Panel, then System, then Hardware, finally Device Manager, you will see a listing of the equipment and firmware on your system. Click on the DVD/CD-ROM drive + symbol and you will see the brand and model number of your installed optical drives so you can download fresh drivers from the manufacturer's site.
Also handy; if you download Belarc Advisor, you can get a very detailed report of your system, both hard and software and save the report on your system for the future.
