Question about GE WSXH208A Front Load Washer

1 Answer

I have a GE Front Load WSXH208 and it doesn't work.

It doesn't do the final spin, and the water doesn't drain, and also the soap is still left over. I'm trying to see where the screws are so I can take it apart and see what's wrong. I really don't know what is wrong, so if you know the answer, and can provide vivid pictures and details where the screws and procedures how to fix this on my own, please tell me.
Thank you.

"Remove hoses from pump. Remove two screws holding pump to bottom of
washer. Look for obstructions in pump, and also clean out the area of
the hose just before the pump."

When you say that, do you mean to remove the whole pump out, because there are clamps and other obstructions in the way. Or to remove the screws and take out as much stuff inside as possible?

Sorry I don't have any pictures of this handy, but here's what you should do:
Unplug machine. Take the front lower panel off by removing the two 1/4 inch hex head screws at the very bottom of the lower panel, right by the floor. Next pull the bottom of that panel out and down to release it from the two pegs at the top of the panel. Now, after you have removed as much water from the machine as possible with a scoop or cup, pull the machine forward about two feet and lean it back against the wall. (this will keep the rest of the water in the machine when you disconnect the hoses to the pump) Remove hoses from pump. Remove two screws holding pump to bottom of washer. Look for obstructions in pump, and also clean out the area of the hose just before the pump.
Reassemble and test.

Note: The washer will not spin if there is still water in it.

Yes, remove entire pump. There may be obstuctions in the pump. (a nickel is a perfect size to block the pump outlet for example) Make sure the impeller (the part you will be able to see when you look inside the hole where the hoses where) is free to turn.

My kenmore 3.5 front load does not drain during the final rinse and spin cycle. It does clear all of the soap and water during wash.

Check for foreign objects in drain pump or if not defective pump. Accessible from bottom front panel, two screws holding it in place

Plugged drain hose (which you can easily remove and clean) or slow running household drains.

The drain hose is the approx.2' diameter black hose on the back of the washer that is clamped to the washer and the other end goes into a standpipe or a wall drain. Be sure to turn off your washer and unplug it and have some old towels handy and maybe a bucket!

If there is nothing in the drain pipe, then I would suspect a plug somewhere else in your house that is preventing draining.

Thank you for using Fix Ya and for rating this solution.

GE Front Loading Washing Machine seems to be holding water....

The high speed spin of a front load washer should normally do a good job of getting squeezing out the water but if there is an oversudsing condition that makes it hard for the drain pump to operate then the suds and water will just stay there. First make sure there is no actual clog in the drain line then run a load with no soap or detergent and see what happens. It's always better to use a low suds detergent with this type of machine
