How do I access recovery mode for my psp version 5.01

I have tried everything including having my psp on and holding the power switch off until it completely turns off. Then I turn it back on holding the right trigger button. I have read that it will go into recovery mode after that but it doesn't and I have tried it over and over again. Please help

Hold the on button and right trigger for around 5 seconds at the same time. This is the only way to access recovery mode. If doesn't work consider sending it in to sony tech support. sorry

Hi there. Try doing this;
1. Turn off your PSP (long press switch). 2. Press and hold "R" while switching on your PSP and you'll boot into Recovery Menu 3. Scroll down to "UMD Mode" and press "X" until the value changes to "S0NY NP9600" 4. Go back and exit to boot your PSP in game mode...
I hope this helped...

My psp(2000) wont get into recovery mode

You need custom firmware to enter recovery mode. If you already have custom firmware, access recovery mode by COMPLETELY turning off your PSP and turning it back on while holding the R button.

PSP SCREEN FLICKERS AND GOES SLOW IN MAIN MENU

Ok...this sounds crazy but it happened to one of my PSPs. I updated the firmware on my system and the menu started stalling and taking a long time to respond. I shut the PSP all the way down....holding the power button until the light shuts off (about 4 or 5 seconds)...Hold the R button and power the system on again (you should be in recovery mode)...go to CPU speed and make sure it is either set at "Default" or "222"....I belive 222 is the default setting....also make sure the UMD is also set at "Default" or 222....if you're going to use the UMD.

Recovery mode

Run the recovery tool from the SanDisk website. Make sure you select "format" when prompted. http://www.sandisk.com/Assets/File/Downloads/firmware/e200fw01.00.12.exe You need to put the device into "recovery mode" before you run the tool. - Turn the device off (hold power for 20 seconds) - Slide the hold switch into "hold" position. - Press and hold the "record" button while connecting it to your computer. Keep holding the "record" button until you see the "new hardware found" on your computer. Then run the recovery tool. Select format when prompted. Best of Luck.
