SOURCE: Dishwasher soap dispenser sticks

Mine dishwasher (a Maytag) did this also. At first it was becoming stuck because of the soap. My repair guy cleaned it and I switched to liquid soap and it worked great another 2 years then did it again. That time it was just wore out and had to be replaced. I was told it was no longer available but we found it here http://www.repairclinic.com/and our repair guy installed it. He was amazed because he had even called everywhere.

Advance the timer, with one hand on the dispenser door. The timer should release the door at times during it's cycle, it may need a little help, but not very hard to turn.

SOURCE: Soap dispenser door not opening up

If the soap door doesn't open all the time, remove the outer door cover and remove any obstructions. There are pieces of styrofoam and cardboard inside the door that come loose from time to time, and prevent the linkage from operating freely. They can be re-glued OR eliminated.

SOURCE: How do I clean the sprayers inside my Ge Nautilus

The problem is hard water. Go to www.dishwasherfilter.com. They have a new product out that solves this problem once and for all. It filters the water entering your dishwasher and removes the hard minerals that cause these spots. Very affordable and guaranteed to leave your dishes looking amazing every time. The system should also help clean the sprayers.

The soap remains inside the dispenser, thus door opens up, but soap remains inside....just drips down the door.

What you have is a faulty cycle timer. Replace this and your dispenser will dispense the soap when prompted.

The best solution is to use the compressed powder cubes, the will fall to the bottom of the dishwasher as soon as the soap cup opens. New dishwashers use so little water that they dont do a good job of getting all the phosphate free detergent out of the cup. The cubes work fine and you will have no more residue

Dishwasher soap dispenser sticks

Your soap is clotting because there isn't enough water being sprayed around inside.  The water spray washes the soap out of the dish, if all is working well.  My machine had the same problem.  I had sufficient water level, but the spray head wasn't spinning very well.  I found the end-most hole in the spray bar to be plugged.  It is the end hole that provides a jet that makes the head spin.  I cleaned a bunch of debris out of the hole and the mchine started working and cleaning like it was new.  That was quite an axccomplishment since the machine is 15 years old.

Dishwasher soap dispenser won't open during cycle

I had the same problem with my GE Adora. The dishes were getting cloudy and the soap dispenser would not open. Turns out the hard water deposits were causing the soap dispenser to stick shut. I purchased and used Dishwasher Magic which is a dishwasher cleaner designed to remove limescale, rust and buildup. I used as directed and now my dishes are sparkling and the soap dispenser pops right open.
