Clogged Drain Hose

My drain hose is clogged. It is the large drain hose on the back of the machine that allows the water to go into my household drain. I dont know how to detach it from the washer to clean it.

There should be a spring clamp of some kind, use a pair of pliers to squeeze the clamp open and slide it off the hose.

What you can do is go into the test mode, and see if the drain pump is operating, if not you will need a need drain pump. Do not put it into spin in test mode if you have clothes in there

SOURCE: water pours from drain hose overflow in front of washer

That drain hose in front has a stopper, to prevent discharge. Either it is not there or not tight or something. You can always clog it shut with a round wood bit inserted or something........I don't think it is too difficult.

SOURCE: LG WM2487 front load washer spews suds out of port on rear.

You are likely using too much detergent or the detergent is not high-efficiency detergent. Change detergents and/or lower amount and this problem should go away.

The water port on the back allows air inside the tub to escape. However, if the wrong type or quantity of detergent are used, excess suds will flow from this port.

SOURCE: wm2688h will not drain anymore.

You need to take a flashlight and look into the suction port on the pump. Make sure the pump is not clogged and check the pump impeller. Make sure that no blades are broken or missing and the impeller should spin freely. If any blades are missing or broken on the impeller or if it will not turn freely, the pump will have to be replaced. Hopefully, it is just a clogged pump. Hope this helps and best wishes.

It will wash but when its time for the first draining out the water to spin it stops

Three things to inspect are:
  1. Clogged drain hose - cause water to back up to the pump and shut down
  2. Clogged drain tube - usually occurs when the drain hose is attached to a drain tube that empties out into the homes sewer system. Just like a clogged drain, water will back up all the way through the drain hose into the pump and shut down.
  3. Clogged or bad drain pump - Many times, debris left in pockets will work it's way into the drain pump. Over time, enough debris (paper, coins etc) could lodge itself into the pump. When the machine tries to empty or spin out, the pump becomes overwhelmed and shuts down. Sometimes, you may even see a puddle of water appear under the washer due to a clogged pump. This can also happen if the pump itself is worn out and no longer working up to specifications.
Best of luck with your repair.

Water is not draining.is something clogged?

Hello,

below are some troubleshooting tips that might help to solve the problem;

Remove any kinks in the drain hose. Ensure that the washer is not sitting on the hose.

Inspect the household drain. Remove clogs, if possible. Call a plumber if you cannot remove the clogs.

Check the drain and make sure there is an air gap between the hose and drain. An air gap is necessary to prevent the drain hose from siphoning water.

Clean the pump filter. Open the pump access door. Turn the pump filter counter-clockwise and remove it. Remove dirt and debris. Replace the filter and close the pump access door.

Rearrange the clothing in the load. An unbalanced load can prevent the washer from spinning or draining.

Allow the washer to cool down for two hours. If the washer overheats, it will stop the motor and cool down before restarting.

Close the door completely. The washer will not operate if the door is not securely closed.

I hope the above helps.

Good luck.

I have a Roper washing machine and it will not drain the water?

Most common causes for a machine that won't drain are:

  1. Clogged drain tube
  2. Clogged drain hose
  3. Clogged drain pump
To diagnose, remove the drain hose from the drain tube and look for water in the tube. A clog will force water back into the machine. If this is clear, some debris could have worked it's way into the drain hose itself. Check this by removing the hose and inspect for a blockage. If both are fine, the problem is most likely in the drain pump. Many times, a piece of paper left in a pocket will work it's way into the drain pump and get lodged.

LG washer getting an OE error. I have opened the pump and drained the water as well as ckeaned the filter...still not working propperly.

OE means your machine has failed to drain within 10 minutes. There are a few posibilities. Your drain hose could be kinked or clogged causing the machine not to drain. Try using a shop vac to remove the water from the end of the drain hose. If a shop vac won't **** out the water either, you have a clog somewhere ing the drain hose, of the hose from the tub to the pump. If it will drain the water you need a new pump. If there is no water in the machine then the problem is either the pressure switch, the hose going to the pressure switch, of the control board. The pressure switch is on the back by the control board. You will see a black rubber hose going attached to it. Remove it and see if you can blow through it. If you cant it is clogged somewhere. If it is not clogged then the most likely cause is your pressure switch and next the control board.

My front loading GE washer WSSH300 will not drain.

Don't know if this will help or not, but your owners manual is available at http://genet.geappliances.com/DocSearch/Dispatcher
Water won’t drain
Drain hose is kinked or •
Straighten drain hose and make sure washer is not improperly connected sitting on it. Top of drain outlet should be less than 8 ft. (2.5 m)
above floor. Household drain may • Check household plumbing. You may need to call be clogged a plumber. Plumbing this washer directly to a pipe is hard on the motor. Usually the drain hose elbow is inserted in a stand pipe, meaning the washer would drain water on the floor is the stand pipe is clogged.
Several items can cause the lack of draining.
If you can get to the drain hose, try lowering to a point that it will drain into a bucket. If it drains the system is not clogged. If you advance the timer and the washer drains this maybe the culprit. The motor can overheat and shut off. I would advance the timer to spin and listen for a hum in the motor and then quiet, a sign that the motor has overheated. If the water drains it sounds like the timer is at fault.
I would first make sure the drain hose is properly installed and not kinked somewhere. In earlier GE's the water drain pump could clog, your manual doesn't indicate that as a defect. Regardless timer, motor and pump are in the cycle to empty the washer water.

The dishwater does not drain out water

It is quite common for a dishwasher to not drain because either the drain hose or the air gap (if the unit has one) is clogged up. Drain hose clogs commonly occur where the hose is attached to the main household drain line, or where the hose connects with the garbage disposer. Try removing the drain hose to unclog any debris. Don't forget to reattach the hose before you start your dishwasher again.

I have a hmwm 6000 washing machine and i suspect the pump is blocked as it won't drain water. How do I get to the pump to unblock it?

Check hoses for any kinks or clogs that may prevent the water from draining. If a hose has kinks, try to straighten out the kinked hose. If it can't be straighten sufficiently, replace the hose. If hoses are not kinked, check for clogged hoses. This can be done by using the screwdrivers to remove the hoses and looking for clogs or running a water hose through the clogged hose to remove the clog. Use the rags and bucket to clean up the water that comes out of the hoses when they are disconnected. Once the clog is cleared, put the drain hose back into place. The washer should drain and spin now if a clogged or kinked hose was the problem.

Dishwasher will not drain

I hav an Americana / GE dishwasher, only one and a half years old. the dishwasher is not draining. When I turn the selection knob on the front to wash, is begins filling with water again. But, the cycle is not actually working. I removed the drain hose from the disposal unit and allowed the really really nasty collection of water to drain out. I have a feeling that the hose connection to the washer is clogged. Is this possible. If so, should I remove the hose from the connection at the dishwasher and clean the hose or could it be something else.

Thank you,
