Question about Kenmore Elite HE4 Electric Dryer

2 Answers

Burning smell Kenmore HE dryer is 6 years old. I have been doing laundry all day with no problems...tonight the dryer started smelling like something was burning inside. I removed all the clothes, checked the lint screen and the exhaust tubing - all is fine. The smoke smell seems like it is coming from the heater vent inside the dryer drum. It does not smell electrical, more like paper, cloth or lint burning...

OMG! This saved us $$ thank you!!! Our dryer was literally full of lint at the bottom of it. We keep the hose clean, but never thought to open up bottom and back of unit to clean it out. Thank you!

Our 1 year old LG dryer smells terrible suddenly. We have searched under and around it - looking for a dead mouse or something - but it seems to come from inside.

You can unplug the unit , and reomve the lower aces panel (3 screws along the front bottom of unit) youll probalby see an excess of lint built up in which case you can vacuum it out, and then check/clean and or replace your dryer vent

chances are youve blown a thermostat. if you have a powermeter you will need to check for continuity in all of your thermostats, located by the heater assembly. im sure if ther was any "flame" they got to hot and did what they are there to do, shut down the heat source. saftey reasons

Relays are located on the left side of the compressor. How long ago did you smell the burning smell? Are you 100% sure the compressor is running? If it is, nothing is wrong with the relays. Although sometimes it is hard to tell if the compressor is running. By morning temps will be higher than tonight if compressor isnt running. If it isnt running, relays must be changed. I will post shortly on how to change the relays.

Kenmore elite front load dryer squeaking and burning smell

you have a bearing in the drum support that has frozen and now the rubber wheel is burning up. The bearing needs to be replaced ASAP. You could damage the dryer if you continue to use it.

Any kind of lint or cobwebs on the element would cause a hot spot and fry the element or pop the limit that is mounted on top of the chamber. What your hubby soulda done is take the machine down and vacuum it out after sitting up so long. The fuse is not blown because it still runs so it must be the small guy pictured. It mount up top of the heat element chamber.ff8b5e7.jpg
