Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

I've got an Mbox 2 connected to a Mac G4 Powerbook running Final Cut Pro. I have a mic plugged into the Mbox running on phantom power. The powerbook is definitely receiving the mic's signal, but the Voice Over Tool in Final Cut Pro refuses to register the signal of the mic, YET IS registering any line level signal from other sound devices plugged into the Mbox. Is there a setting or preference on Final Cut Pro that needs to be altered to register phantom powered mic signal?

SOURCE: Connecting a Nikon LS200 slide scanner to a PowerBook G4

Yes - get hold of an Adaptec USB2XCHANGE SCSI-USB cable and download Vuescan software (www.hamrick.com). This works perfectly on LS2000 - Macbook Pro combo.

SOURCE: Low Audio Level

Are your speakers matched to the unit for ohms and impedance? Check the manual and the rating on your speakers. Unmatched speakers will deliver less power.

SOURCE: webcam for powerbook g4 w/ os x 10.3.9

I've just bought a Macally Portable USB Video Webcam. It works with my powebook 10.3.9 (in fact it works with 10.2 or later) however the latest version of skype doesn't seem to work on my laptop.
I bought the cam online from www.ammicro.co.uk and it cost about £40 with postage.
So I know that's only half solved your problem, but hope it's helpful.

Does apple poewerbook g4 have webcam installed

No. You gots to get a Macbook or MacBook Pro for the built in web cam.
You can buy a Mac Ally web cam and clip it on the top of the powerbook for a web cam, but it looks odd in contrast to the stream lined architecture of the Power Book.

MBox 1 Compatibility with new Macbook Pro Unibody and OSX 10.5.6?

unfortunately any pro tools application below version 7.4.2 is not compatible with leopard and I don't think you can use mbox 1 with the universal mac I may be wrong but I wanna say I tried a while back and even garageband wouldn't find it anymore but you can check for sure by going to the applications folder then open the utilities folder in there is an application called "Audio Midi Setup" and you can select the mbox in there if you see it but if not there is no patch or driver that I know of to get it working unless you upgrade pro tools which if you do upgrade I suggest getting mbox 2 and getting LE with it
