No response Lifestyle 48 series III Acoustimass module

My recently purchased Lifetsyle 48 Series III currently is not producing any sound. I don't think it has anything to do with the media centre as this seems to respond as expected using the remote. I even tested the speakers, making a direct connection to the media centre and they worked fine. I have re-checked all the connections and wiring about 1 hundred times. I also turned the acoustimass off several times @ 10 minutes intervals. I just can't figure it. All the connections are correct. They are all positioned firmly. All my powerpoints are fine. I have done all the usual tests i.e. mute on/off, CD on, checked the CD, checked volume etc. The digital display on the media centre is OK but no response from the acoustimass. Any ideas on this delema?

I have tried pugging the system into different power points but this has not helped.

If my memory is correct, this system has the amplifier built into the sub-woofer. If so, the amp in the sub-woofer is at fault for your problem. These are very difficult amplifiers to troubleshoot, I have repaired a few of them and none have been easy. Even if you are able to figure out what electronic components it may need replaced, you won't be able to get them. It will require service at an authorized Bose service center. I work at an authorized service center and can tell you will certainty that you can not get it repaired at anyplace that is not an authorized service center because Bose will not sell parts to any service center that is not authorized. In fact, they warn their authorized service centers that if they sell the Bose parts to anybody they will loose their authorization.

Trying to repair it yourself will only end in disappointment since you will not be able to get the parts. When the amplifier stops putting out any sound, it is in a protect mode. There are no buttons to push or resets that will make it start working again. I see from your post, you have done everything that an end-user can do by checking all the connections and such.

Find an authorized Bose service center and take it in for repair, this is high-end equipment that you do not want to damage further by tampering with it. Ask them if I am right about what I have told you here and you will realize this is your only real solution.

Hi,

It would seem that based on your description the issue is limited to the Acoustimass. Sorry but have to ask, have you checked the voltage setting? Is it appropriate for Australia?

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa

Hello oldbikes,

Have you followed the sugestions from your manual?

No sound=
•Increase the volume.
•Check to see if MUTE is lit on the display. If it is, press the Mute button on the remote control
to unmute the sound.
•Make sure that the power switch on the Acoustimass module is set to ON (I).
•Make sure that the audio input cable:
- connector is firmly seated in the media center Main Speaker jack
- multi-pin connector at the other end is firmly seated in the Acoustimass module
AUDIO INPUT jack.
•Check connections between the cube speakers and the module.
•Turn the media center off for 60 seconds, then on again,
to restore communication between the media center and the speakers.
•Check the connections for any external components. Make sure that you have pressed
the correct remote button for the source you want to hear.
•For CD or DVD play, be sure the disc is placed correctly, label-side up, in the disc tray.
•Connect the FM and AM antennas

The Manual for your bose.

Good luck,
Dahaka

Is there a fuse inside the bose acoustimass 15 series 3 as I have no power led or sound from it.

Yes, the Bose Acoustimass 15 Series 3 system does have an internal fuse that can be a potential cause for the lack of power and sound. If the system is not receiving power or showing any LED indicator lights, it's worth checking the fuse as a first step in troubleshooting.
To access the fuse in the Acoustimass module, follow these steps:
  1. Ensure the system is unplugged: Before working on any electrical components, make sure the Acoustimass module is completely disconnected from the power source.
  2. Locate the fuse compartment: The fuse compartment is typically located on the back or bottom of the Acoustimass module. It may be covered by a removable panel or secured with screws.
  3. Open the fuse compartment: Remove the panel or screws to access the fuse compartment. Inside, you should see the fuse holder.
  4. Check the fuse: Inspect the fuse visually to see if it is blown or damaged. If the fuse appears blackened, broken, or melted, it is likely blown and needs to be replaced.
  5. Replace the fuse: If the fuse is blown, replace it with a new one of the same type and rating. Ensure you use a fuse with the correct amperage specified by the manufacturer. It's a good practice to keep spare fuses of the appropriate rating on hand for future needs.
  6. Close the fuse compartment: After replacing the fuse, securely close the fuse compartment and ensure it is properly sealed.
  7. Plug in the system: Reconnect the Acoustimass module to the power source and turn it on. Check if the LED indicator lights up and if sound is produced.

There is no sound

Confirm there is power in the wall socket and that the mains cable of the Acoustimass Module is OK,then check if the Boselink audio cable is inserted firmly into the zone1 output of the Media Center and the input of the Acoustimass Module.Turn the Acoustimass Module upside down and power the system,if led indicator blinks orange, the Acoustimass Module is faulty but if it blinks an intermittent but regular green light, the fault could be from the audio cable or Media Center.Only a qualified Bose Technician can handle this kind of fault
