5oo gb western digital external hard drive.

i bought this hard drive after my computer crashed. the geek squad said they put all that was on the computer on the external drive. mind you this is this year i bought it. i finally got a new computer and pluged the device in and nothing is happening. there is no manual and they told me i would have to bring my comp and the external hard drive to them. i would also have tp $$$$$$$$$$.. please help. i run an ebay business and all i have is on this external hard drive...
