Had a feeling it was a blown globe. Found that it was when we pulled it out...now I just have ti find where they sell new ones to replace it. I tried looking on the net from shops to manufacturers and I tell you what...they make it so that you have to call in the professionals so you pay triple the price. I will keep trying though.

Picture and sound turn on and off

I believe that model has a logic board in it and that is what it sounds like to me. That is just off top of my head, but I believe if you will notice the standby light it will be blinking so many blinks and stop and then blink again. If so this is a code that you can look up on the Samsung web site and plug in your model and it should tell you what just say ~ 4 blinks means. I worked on so many and it has been a while but I believe the last one I had was a Samsung and I put a logic board in it. If I can be of any further assistance please let me know.

We keep losing sound and picture on our TV

If you haven't replaced the lamp, it is almost certainly time to change it. A weak lamp will cause the TV to play for a short time. As the old weak lamp heats up, it draws more current, and the reflector in the lamp, having become cloudy over time, converts the light into more heat rather than reflected it out into the set. Eventually the lamp draws too much current and the set turns it off, going into a restart cycle. Buy an original Sony lamp, as the aftermarket replacement lamps are known trouble makers. Be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!

Mitsubishi vs-50609 wont stay powered on

Hello nicolastran,

I gave this advice to someone with this same problem so here it is again:

It sounds like your shutdown circuit is being activated. This is due to excess current being drawn. This usually happens in the High Voltage section of the TV or one of the deflection stages. Due to the nature of this problem I would suggest that you take it to a local TV repair shop or have a TV repair person come out and take a look at the issue. The HV section is dangerous and should be dealt with by a qualified TV repair technician.

Thank you,
I hope this helps

Toshiba 43A61 - No Picture, no sound

If your set all of a sudden won't come on, e.g., the screen is blank, but the LED on the under the screen next to the on/off switch keeps flashing, then there may be an internal fault on the set that needs to be reset.
To force the reset, try this:
  • Unplug the set and wait a few seconds
  • Replug and see if the video returns
Whenever the set senses an internal fault through its monitoring circuitry, it essentially shuts down the set. The flashing LED provides the indication that a fault has been detected. Removing power to the set resets the monitoring circuitry. When plugged back in, the circuitry again does a check of the system. If it finds that there truly is a problem, then the set is shut down and the LED will again flash. In this case, you need to call a service tech. Most of the time, however, the unplug/replug routine is enough to get the set up and running.
