Dell 1901fp power board problem

Hi, I have a Dell 1901fp lcd monitor and have a clicking noise coming from the power board. When I tap the board the clicking stops and the power comes on. When the screen comes on and shows my desktop it is to bright. Could you possibly guide me to what may be the problem.
I'm guessing the inverter transformer is faulty.

Sounds like a loose connection or broken solder point. It could also be a bad inverter or CCFL.
Have it serviced or replaced.

My Dell Flat Panel Monitor Model 1901FP goes black after it's on for 3 seconds. The green light stays on. I tried replacing cables. Any Solutions?

Inspect the power supply/inverter board for caps with domed tops first, if you do want to DIY repair down to component level, you can get a replacement board for $30.

If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed DELL monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

You could have an inverter board problem. The inverter supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp which provides the back-lighting.

Hi, This is a common problem with LCD monitors and is usually a result of blown capacitors or it could be a failed backlight as the inverter will shut down if it detects this. You will need to open up your monitor and you will be able to see if any capacitors have "blown" but failure of a lot of components will cause this symptom.

Dell 1901FP monitor

It is probably either a CCFL back light issue inside the LCD or a set of capacitors on the inverter/power supply board.
Would you be willing to part with it ?
